Haven't painted ralley wheels in a long time, need to redo the ones on a couple square bodies, just haven't been motivated with the cost of paint these days. That can of touch up paint was less than $5 back then, it's $17 now.
Here’s the paint I used.

It’s $12.50 a can. Like everything else, outrageous.
In spite of the cost, I do like the paint.

Painted the frame for my 67 C10 tonight. Uses Sweet Patina’s “Black Out” frame paint. Brushed it on and pretty impressed with the finish and how well it laid down.

Not sure why my photos are uploading turned like that. Apologize in advance to your necks lol

Cut, and modified the shift lever that came with the CPP tilt column, so I could use the new billet shift lever.
Polished it up nice.

Finally got around to installing the billet door handles.
Went with the brushed look, as it’s easy to “fix” any scratches or other rub marks...just use a piece of scotch brite.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Used Velcro to stick up the headliner I bought a few weeks ago.
After watching the video of the install from Brothers Truck, I didn’t wanna cut slots in the cab for all clips...plus, seeing the results on here from others who installed theirs without the trim, I thought it looked cleaner too.

Looks nice from here! I bought the trim because mine came factory with the headliner. I had to plug the holes with something!

I bought the trim too....but now it’s just gonna get tossed onto the pile of unused parts.
I’m sure the trim can still be installed...would just have to be super careful making the slots.

HA!
I posted a thread in the general discussion section concerning that same issue and someone suggested that I crop the picture a little which did the trick for me.

Got my instrument cluster back in after adding my new cheap $20 Amazon tachometer.
I would like to reduce the brightness a little and the tach allows that by pushing a little button on the tach face, but that is behind the original plexiglass lens now and I don't want to drill even a little hole in the original lens to dim it.
Overall I'm pleased with how it all came out and I'll quickly get used to the brightness.
The red ring on the tach is due to the red needle reflecting off of the chrome bezel hole cutout if that makes any sense.

That looks good... Do you have to top coat it?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Wifey helped me install the factory GMC, paint matched tailgate.
I have all new trim to go on it, but I'll leave that to the bodyshop guys.

I bought this tailgate for $50.00.
Couldn't get the $50 bill out of my pocket fast enough to pay the guy.
Picture me running towards the wife's truck while carrying this tailgate yelling, "START THE CAR, START THE CAR!!!"

Gonna use the old tailgate for the backrest of a bench for the yard.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I ordered front and back rear wiring harnesses from LMC. I untaped the back harness and soldered on wires for the 7 pin connector and taped it back together. I also cleaned the bulb housings and fixed the wiring going to them. I got all the lights and turn signals working. The brake lights are not working. I will troubleshoot the brake switch tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Brake lights not working so I got my meter and tested the brake switch and it is good. I measured 12v on the orange wire and jumpered it to the white wire and still no brake lights.
I had no idea where the white wire went. Thankfully I downloaded the wiring diagrams from this site. I was able to trace the white wire to a half moon shaped wire connector where I found the wire wasn’t making good contact.
Got it fixed and have brake lights now!

I would have just added this message to my previous post but I don't know how to add pictures to an edit.
Hey I'm just glad the dang pictures aren't coming out sideways anymore.

Many years ago I added some cheap tachometer guts to my guage cluster but eventually the thing died.
It also stood out brighter than my other gauges and that was never a problem, so this new cheap tachometer brightness shouldn't be a problem either.
Come to think of it, the old one was probably long since dead before I even noticed.

So how many of you have run out of gas before you even noticed that big ol' fuel guage was sitting on empty...

I rest my case.

I acquired this original bezel with very little sun fading in the paint out of a '68 and installed it in my '68.
