Pappy's truck reminds me of an altered wheel base car. It's pretty sweet.

Re: GMC V-12 powered '91 Chev crewcab
Here is the front shot. The front is all GMC. I used 6 fenders to make the two. It took 3 hoods to make one. I cut up 2 chevy hoods. I was a lot of hammering and sanding. Then do it all over again. And Again. The grill and bumper was white. The wife then decided it need some contrast. So spring green it is.
The V12'ers just might get together next year. I think that would be super cool. |

The long hole behind the wheel is there for a reason. You have discovered
what I will be doing this winter. My idea is to build headers with 6 pipes out each side. I started making them, but it is going to take a lot of time. The pipes I have now are just to get it on the road. |

maybe down the road you can fab up a stack style fuel injection system for it, those pipes and 12 stacks out the hood would be perfect.

With the "zoomies" you need to lower the front of the GMC to give it the funny car look. I can see it now and it is sweet!

Think about the Ramchargers original car, a '50 Plymouth 3-window coupe. It had the wildest set of stacks that I can recall.

Re: GMC V-12 powered '91 Chev crewcab
I'm waiting on a reply from Marvin about the chassis he used. He started out this build with the plan to use a '91 Crew Cab. Things progressed from there to what it is now. But, you are right because basically everything one sees is '60-66. Waiting on Marvin...

I posted a link on the 60-66 last week, and they were less than receptive...downright rude in some cases....for a while I had thought this thread should be over there, but felt that the people that already knew about it would be unable to find it, after some of the comments I saw, I think it is just fine here...IMO

Re: GMC V-12 powered '91 Chev crewcab
ChevLoRay has asked me about the truck.
Originally I intended to put it in the '91 Chev crewcab I had, but that would have defeated my purpose of having a restored, running V-12 for "Show and tell". The motor would have been too hard to see how they designed & built the old brutes. It has a '72 Ford F-350 139"wb frame under it and front suspension. It's tagged and titled now as a '62 GMC 1/2 ton. It may eventually have a 9" Ford 2.73 gear rear end under it, single wheels, then add the Fleetside bed that was the mate to the present cab. It's entirely up to the mods where they feel the best place to post it. I like the idea of a build section, but appreciate this site for letting me hang out here with my toys. You guys comments and suggestions has had a big influence on how we have got this far. Several other V-12ers has been watching the site and gleaning info to use on theirs. I expect other 12ers will pop in here along with Rap 'em papy and I in the future. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions, past and future. The discussions are a big help. Cayoterun

^ I am curious to see how yours will look with single wheels and a fleet bed.

Re: GMC V-12 powered '91 Chev crewcab
Nice! I'm glad to see some of the old brutes brought back and preserved in some way. The simplicity of design and maintenance was far ahead of their time.
Thanks for posting, Cayoterun
