yes, i used front shocks from a 73-87. mounted bottom mounts to the leaf spring lower hardware plates and then upper shock mounts welded to the U shaped upper bag mounts. with the 2500's i have on the rear now the shocks only make a difference when i ride with the bags with less than 40 psi. i am currently looking for narrow but taller bags to fit in the space but allow me more lift and let the shocks work better. i think the only real answer is to use sleeve bags. ive heard they ride well.
my truck rode a 100 times better when i had 2600's mounted on the leafspring closer to the cab. i lost the ride placing them on the axle but i prefer them there for maintenance reasons, being able to see them in action while driving and knowing my truck will carry more load when i need it to
