I can't help it. It's not completely done but should be by this weekend for a car show. Here's how it sits yesterday afternoon.

Definitely keeping the patina/multilayered paint. The truck was a Gordon County service truck and was originally dark yellow. It's clearly been painted a few times. If i ever paint it, it will be white. Really dig the white.

Just dropped it 4.5/6 on Friday. It's already settled some in the front. The driver's side was a little high. Next up some motor refresh/upgrades.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

hello everybody
I am Didier and I am French, my English is rather bad, excuse me therefore! I quite live in a small village in the south of France (high provence)
I look this forum since many months. There are some pure beauties among all these trucks!

I imported the last winter, of Oregon, a Gmc c1500 High sierra of 1979 with a motor crate 350 and TH350. He is entirely of origin (to part the motor and the wheels)
I am giving him a new appearance, nothing extraordinary for the meantime. I reconditioned the cabin of my truck in 2 colors.
I removed the sticks metallic decorations (I don't know the exact term) on the sides, one is going to plug the holes and to redo a simple painting with pinstripping.
I changed the tissue of the bench that was used and added a good sound system.
Here are some photos of my baby that perfectly purr and with which I already made many kilometers in spite of the consumption !
But if I want to roll in V8, I assume my choice!
I have also 2 harleys; A shovelhead 80ci of 1983 and an electra glide 80ci of 96, I roll therefore only with old American véhicules with carburetor ... for me, they have a soul !

I am going to have quickly need of your advice, I would like to change my wheels but I have big difficulties to understand the measurements.

Now some photos.

Welcome to the site Didier. The "sticks metallic decorations (I don't know the exact term) on the sides" is called 'exterior trim'. The types of exterior trim is different depending on the year of truck.

Looks like you picked a decent truck to import. Give us a shout when you're ready to research wheel options.

Glad to have you around!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

Hi Everybody, my name is Paul and I'm new here. This is my 1977 Cheyenne Big 10, I've had it 6 years. Made here in CA, bought new by my Brothers father in law. It was always taken care of and garaged until I got it. Now it is just taken care of. It has a 350, TH350 / gear vendor. I have lurked here for a while, getting some ideas from some pretty awesome trucks. 4 link in the rear and a small static drop will be next.

Security guy. How much drop do you have on your truck? What wheels and tire size are you running on it?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

It's hard to remember, but the front has either 2" or the 2.5" dropped spindles and I cut one coil off the springs. I did a flip kit in the rear, no c-notch.. The rims are the Boss 338's, 20x10 rear, 20x8.5 front. Tires are 295/45r20 rear and 255/40r20 front. My next tires will be a little taller in the front. They are a little to small (for me) and gives it a little to much rake. I like a little more sidewall on the front... Hope this helps!
