Re: 58 3100 Ifs
I found that out recently and have taken it off. I plan on getting some ceramic coated header and only wrap the tube near the steering u joints and over the trans tail shaft.

I am very impressed with your fabrication work you have done. It looks really good. What type headers are you going with? Block huggers? Shorties? Or are you fabricating your own?

Re: 58 3100 Ifs
Thanks for the compliment. I think I will go with Sanderson headers becuase they have a long header that has tight bends at the head or the dynomax cheapy ceramic. They are dynomax on there now. It depends on the wallet when that time comes.

Re: 58 3100 Ifs
Thanks, I wanted something that was different. Plus I had more time than money and thats what drove some of the ideas.

Re: 58 3100 Ifs
This was my rainy saturday project. modify the left header to get clearence on the steering shaft. I used pieces from another set of headers. The center 2 tubes were shortened at the bend out of the header flange and re piped below where the steering shaft crosses them. It allows for a better angle on the steering shaft and more clearence around it. I need to clean up the welds, sandblast and paint them.

Re: 58 3100 Ifs
I needed inner fenders that fit the 75 IFS and leave room for the rubber brake line, I was going to make some but that proved harder that it looked. What I found after some trial and error was that the original inner fenders actually were just about right clearence wise except the high side of the upper A frame and the front rubber brake line. The inner fenders had this little hump for clearnce of the 58 brake line but it was on the back side of the Aframe and I needed it on the front side.
So what I did was cut out a 13" section on each inner fender and put them on opposite sides. This made the hump in the front where I needed it and tapered the sheet metal to clear the high side on the A frame. I wish all of it went that easy. Below are the pictures of the right side in progress. |

Re: 58 3100 Ifs
Here it is all but the filler and primer. I think I'm going to roll the edge thats just over the brake line for saftey sake.
