Re: NV4500 swap

I bought the whole kit from Advanced Adapters, including the transmission. I know that some where along in the early transmissions they had a lower 1st and the bolt pattern that mates the transmission to the bellhousing changed.

My conversion isn't done yet, there are a whole lot of little things left to do. The bad and good part is that not many people have done the GENIII conversions so it's hard to learn from the mistakes of others. I don't know anyone that's done one with a blower yet and that is also posing some challenges. I've been hard at it lately though, my goal is to be able to drive it to the cruise to the end of the world in Longbeach WA.

Yours is looking good as well, you've got some mods that I plan on making in the future as well. Why isn't it up and running?

Thanks,

Bill

Re: NV4500 swap

My engine pull to re-seal turned into frame powdercoat, TPI build up on a 383

The reason mine isn't up and running is because of Ben Bernanke. My play money is in the stock market right now - and Bernanke decided to raise interest rates.

So no motor for me until Benny cooperates by not raising rates anymore - LOL

Well very cool swap - 4wheel & off road did a 6.0 swap with a blower into a 80something blazer about a year ago or so - have you seen these articles?

Re: NV4500 swap

I don`t believe they are as tough as the 4-speeds at all.I have a`92 I bought new and had a`95 I bought with 50,000 miles on it.Both trucks at just over 100,000miles had transmission problems. It`s possible that actually using them as a truck is the culprit. Not a problem in a Blazer or fun truck. You`re not supposed to tow in o/d.So,how does a tranny know the difference between pulling weight and hauling it in the bed?
The question I ask,is why so much trouble to put a bullet-proof t-case(NP205)behind a not-so-bullet-proof tranny.I`m not knockin`anything,but I have to ask.I wunder why more guys don`t just put the t-case behind the NV4500 that came behind them.The NP241 is a damn good t-case,bolts right up.That`s what I`m planning.
