Overhaulin doing a 70 chevy tonight

what was wrong with that truck? all they could do was upgrade it, there was hardly any rust and it was straight as could be. it ran and it seemed to be pretty modern.

the driprail is pretty cool, it's cut but not fully removed and shaved off. the side markers turned out to be pretty cool too. i don't know why they relocated the tailgate handle and rivited in the metal filler piece instead of welding it. then they threw the copperhead air cleaner on it? no point for that at all and it stood out like a sore thumb. overall it's a bad ass truck, and i'm jealous.

I think they took a great truck and made it into something that not everone will like. Too much of a show truck for my taste. Lowering and rims like that it just isn't a truck anymore too me. Real nice touch with the the writing on the glove box. That was in good taste but my view on it is too much flash and not enough stock for me. That's just me. I like the truck as a truck.

I wonder what they are going to do with the tailgate, as far as the latch handle goes? I saw them skin it to smooth it over, but have yet to see what they are doing with the latch.
It also doesn't look like they notched the frame, and yet they did a 6/4 drop?

Does anyone have any insight as to how much Overhaulin' budgets to produce each show? I'd really like to know how much it cost to put that '70 together.

Over $30K?
Over $40K?

I liked most aspects of the truck. I liked the smoothed tailgate, and I liked the lowered front blinkers too. Moving them down really cleaned up the lines of the truck.

I also liked the wheel/tire sizes, though I wasn't hot on the wheels chosen. I thought the stance of the truck was spot on.

My only real criticisms of the truck were that I would have reversed the colors on the two-tone to have the dark blue top and bottom with the light blue in the middle, and I would have replaced that nasty air cleaner cover with an oval shaped one similar to what was originally on there. Of course if it was my truck it would have received modern bucket seats and a nice center console, but I could still appreciate that nice bench seat too.

I understand that Lance Armstrong's car cost nearly $100K to overhaul. I doubt all of them cost that much. I have seen a couple that wouldn't justify putting $10K into (an early model F*&D Explorer comes to mind).

I would never let them get my truck unless I has a say in what they are going to do (which of course is not the premise of the show). Now, if they were calling, I could definately find a short step beater that I wouldn't mind being tricked out, just not my current truck.

I liked the fact they used a 68 nose and even went with the 67-68 trim around the rear lights and tailgate and the trim on the glove box too. The only thing I didn't like is that they went that far with the 68 theme, then used the 69-70 trim moldings on the side.
I mean, it is a great looking truck, but to someone who knows and appreciates the differences in the years it just screams out as a mismatch. I would have liked to seen it without any side trim with that awesome paint job.
I guess I'm being picky, but if you got a chance to do a truck right, wouldn't you try and make it all one year? Or at least not mix up something so obvious?

Everyone has different taste and overall I really liked what they did. My only pick is just as thecatseye66 said I wished they went with the 67-68 body trim I really didn't like the newer paint matched trim on the sides. I would have loved to have that truck before Chip got a hold of it, what a nice truck to begin with.

Looked really nice. The wheels weren't my fav, but it was definately foosified. I was kindof hoping he would have pulled the bumpers in like he has done on so many trucks - just because I'm curious how it would be done.

Torque, a 4/6 is as low as you can go without the c-notch (I have had lots of trucks at that height without ever bottoming out)

I think this was a good build, but I would have liked to see more of the welding in of new sheetmetal (cab corners, rocker panels, etc.) and less of the pranks. Foose has a definate style and vision, but it was a nice truck to start with, if they did that to my truck I don't know if I would want to drive it anymore...

That's the case with any contest. You have to pay Uncle Sam. Sadly, nothing is really free! With any auto you win, you have to pay the taxes before you can recieve the car.

Hmmm, sounds like a legal entanglement. How can they hold a vehicle for payment of taxes that doesn't belong to the person who applied? Also, a real butthead could probably force the person who signed as the applicant to pay those taxes as the owner never signed the agreement... It's tricky and the lawyers make it even trickier...

Truck looked good. Personally, I think it would look better painted the solid dark blue color without the color matched side trim. Also, I think they should make Overhaulin' a one hour show, that way they can show more of the actual work involved, rather than quick highlights. The pranks need to go...they used to be somewhat fun to watch, back when Courtney was on the show, but lately, they seem to be half a$$ed and have gotten really boring to watch now with the new host, A.J...she's still smokin' though.

How can you call it a one hour show?
I have to download the show to watch 'cause it is not being broadcasted
in the Netherlands.
Every show is about 40/41 minutes minus all the commercials.
So yeah I wish they showed more of the actuall building.
But at least it's much better than that American Hotrod show...
