Re: Gatorbuilt '59
Hey Gatorbuilt, I see you are from Friendswood and I live in Deer Park, was wondering, what panel did you but to repair "behind" the door hinge pocket. Had the owner of the dealership I work at 59 apache dipped and the part came back very thin. I called Brothers trucks and said they do not make that piece. It looks like you are replacing yours. Do you have any better pics of that area.

Gator, Ummmmmm I really don't know any body people in this area. I am terrible at body work so I can't help you there...lol. I am pretty good at most mechanical stuff though...If I can be of assistance let me know.
You might check with 72 CSTC5 I think he does body work and he is over in Deer Park. Bernie |

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
Gatorbuilt '59 did you run into any issues with the tail shaft of your tranny being too close, to the frame crossmember just to the back of the cab, for your drive shaft? I put the TCI mustang II kit in as well and was mocking up my motor mounts with the tranny on the back of my motor and it looks like the drive shaft is going to hit if my truck bottoms out ( I am going to c-notch the frame). I actually had to cut quite a bit off of my motor mounts. I was also not clearing the transmisson access panel inside the cab. The transmission was make it pop up. I dont have a drive shaft right now to see if it is going to hit or not. Just thought I would ask. It looks like we are going the same route.

If you are speaking of the the orignal tranny crossmember, I cut mine out. If the crossmember that you speak of is the one that held the emergency brake cables. My tale shaft comes no where near it and I have a 700R4. If i get a chance I will take a few pictures for you. Last edited by GATORBUILT '59; 12-01-2006 at 11:05 AM. |

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
Its true about the axle center line, so just to be sure I tacked mine in place and mounted my wheels in tires and a fender and stood back and looked where the wheel was seating in the wheelwell before I welded it complete in. I seen too many clips at shows that the wheels just did not look right.

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
I have already mounted my fenders back on and the wheels are dead on. That is not problem. I drilled my tranny crossmember out it is the one behind that that I am worried about. Yeah if you could take some pics I would appreciate it. I just need to get a drive shaft and put it through the range of motion. I am probably worrying about nothing I just dont want to weld those motor mounts in until I know everything is straight.

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
thanks. Yeah I just got everything mounted up and it looks about the same as yours. I just got a drive shaft and slipped it on and it is not going to hit the front member at all.

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
So does your trans x-member interfere with your brake booster bottom bracket?

Re: Gatorbuilt '59
I still need to buy my booster I am going to go with CPP for it. They have a killer deal right now for 249. I just need to convince the wife. But by the looks of yours it looks like it might be a tight fit.
