Well I put a small block out of a 60 something truck with headers right into my 85, guy who did the actual swap for me didn't complain about the headers at all, only hitch was I "had" to get catalytic converters added in or the muffler shop wouldn't weld up my pipes for me :/

Well I bit the bullet and bought a set of those stainless headers off ebay for my '85....they should be delivered today. Hopefully we'll get some nice weather this week and I can test fit them, only thing I'm concerned about is clearance around my clutch linkage. I'll post up pics/results when I get them.

EDIT: Headers are here, they look pretty darn nice! Polish job isn't perfect, but the welds look good and the flanges are nice and thick. The brand name is Wysco, so I logged on to their site to check them out, and sure enough they say the headers only fit 73-84 and that they won't fit 85 & up because the #3 primary tube won't clear the upper control arm. I didn't think control arms changed?? Hopefully will test fit one night this week to see for sure.

The #3 primary tube comes real close to the control arm, but that's easily dealt with. Also the very back mounting hole on both flanges needed elongated about 1/4", they didn't quite line up with the holes in the heads. Everything else fit great!!

Looks like the reason they are soo close is because the headers are the same as those for 70-74 Camaros and 6?-72 Chevelles . Those headers have been used on lowered trucks for a while so I am sure they sell those headers for both applications . Frank

Do you mind me asking how much those set ya back? I need a new set of headers and exhaust on my 78 with a 305, the first aftermarket set has rusted away...
