I was thinking about selling my hard top and buying one of these if I can leave it on all year. I only like driving it with the top down but sometimes rain gets in the way.
Let me know what you think.

I purchased one a few years ago from softopper and am really happy with it. It started on my 70 but has since been relocated to my 72. Not water tight around the door glass in my instance but not too bad. Actually works better than I would have thought before purchasing it.

Re: Soft Tops For 69 to 72 Blazer

I really like that top 72GMGUY. How does it handle when on the road around 60mph? Does it shake bad or anything?
Also, to everyone here, if I decided to sell my hardtop and get this convertible top, does anyone have an idea of how much the hard top would sell for?
Thanks guys, great site.

Its a great top. No problem doing 60-70mph. A little noisy but very stable.

I've got one on my '71 and love it. No problem with interstate speeds. I put a header on that bolts through the existing windshield bolt holes so I didn't have to put screws in the metal. A guy on here makes them out of fiberglass. Rides a little higher in the front but no leaks either.

Do you know the guy that makes the fiberglass header? Have any contact information for him? Thanks

Re: Soft Tops For 69 to 72 Blazer

I just purchased one. It now comes with a header bar that you screw into the windshield header- no buttons just a fast track. It fits very nice and flush and water tight there. It also has a bar that runs just behind the driver/passengers head and the top attaches to it via velcro wrap to help prevent flapping. I think it would not flap if I didn't have the hickey roll bar. It does flap some over 50mph on the roll bar.

Re: Soft Tops For 69 to 72 Blazer

Here is a pic. Top fits very snug and flush with the drip rail. While installing I was like, this ugly alm strip I am going to have to take off and paint body colour. I am 5'8" After install I haven't even noticed it once except when I put the top on. I really don't see the aversion of drilling a few holes that nobody will ever see. The screws they send are stainless. If you are worried about rust there is oil for that. I had snaps up front on my last top. Can't say I like one over the other.

Ok, so you're still making holes in the windshield frame. That's something I have a problem with. I've read some guys have made a modified bar that uses existing screw holes 2 fasten the snaps to, I would love to see pictures of that.

If you get the fiberglass header you wont put any holes in the windshield frame

Yep and its a nice piece... but its pricey... and im not a huge fan of fiberglass... if there is a metal solution im more game... If Robs piece is the best option thats what i'll get...

Re: Soft Tops For 69 to 72 Blazer

I made one for about 20-30 bucks using steel stock. I don’t have a picture when I made it but it was pretty easy to make. It’s two separate pieces and then I just screwed their aluminum header on to connect them. You can see it under the header. If you can weld it’s a fairly quick job.

Looks great, I like the way you use the visor holes

Thanks, that was my goal. I wanted to bolt it on using the original top mounts.

I wonder if you could use that JB Weld stuff to join the pieces together?

Don't think it would matter if it is 2 pieces or one. I run a soft top on my Jeepster occasionally and used the 2 piece system with no issues. Shouldn't be any different on these rigs.
