Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

[QUOTE=1987 Shortwide;
Sunday is where my luck started turning around!

In the morning a guy came to pick up my spare Talon that was a parts car, a small chunk of change in my pocket... Then in the evening I got a call and a guy is sending me a down payment on the Talon that I popped the diff. in friday night.

^ This will mark the end of my import escapade, screw those little things....

Today I sent off the DP to hold my new daily driver until the Talon is fully sold. I'll be stepping into a black on charcoal '99 Sierra X-cab 4WD [/QUOTE]

Good! I was beging to wonder about that. Imoports haha ha. The silverado should be a nice upgrade! My freind showed me pictures of your bbody in its new state and it still looks pretty good even with the new grill and bumper. Why did you get out of the talens so quick??

Installed Header Buddy's (Write up and pics in ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN) Cured my header leaks. Tweaked the Idle mix again and ad still ignored my choke adjustment.

Built 8 window valances my wife then chose NOT to use... Urgh!!

I thought they would keep my happy, but the urge to have a nice truck prevailed. I've wanted a 99+ pickup for a long long LONG time now, so I'm finally biting the bullet. I hope that not having to sink money into it as a daily will make me work on the 87 more.

Dude, you got me worried now. I was (as usual) working on the house getting it ready for flooring and the baby and while opening a hole in the sheetrock wall for a new electrical plut I cut my index finger down to the bone with a Razor cutter...

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

This past weekend was somewhat eventful. I worked on saturday, and I had my boss order me a new fuel pump, new intake manifold gasket, water pump gasket, and motor mounts. I got all that for less than 40 bucks (I love working at a shop, parts at cost, etc.). Hung out with the boys on saturday night.

Sunday I went to my parents house where my truck is, and pulled the cylinder heads off, along with the fuel pump, starter, and other little accessories. Pulled the exhaust manifolds, and cleaned up a bunch of wiring under the hood. The kid who wired up my subs before I had the truck did a great job, but left all the wires hanging around the firewall, so I got some wire loom and tied everything up.

I hope another thread like this comes up next week. Then I can tell y'all about my engine swap and how my new crate motor purrs!

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

Sorry I'm late on this thread.

Got My carpet from GMCPauls, wrong color so instead of sending it back I went ahead and dyed it. Not too bad looking I just need to spray bottle touch up a few spots. I spent saturday on my butt since Ive worked 5 weeks non stop at work no weekends either. Sunday I went ahead and ripped out my old carpet and put the new in. I got another seat cover and slaped it over my seat, dont want to trash a nice seat. Also I was thinking my stereo wasnet working correctly at least the 6X9's in the doors. Turns out my mid/highs behind the seat werent working either just the two MTX boxes driven of the amp were going. Since the CD player wasent any good I went ahead and got another unit. JVC wally world $80, seems nice and all the speakers work again. Funny now you have to sign a book with your address and name to buy a stereo at walmart. They said in case it gets stolen they have the number off the back. Who's going to turn in an $80 insurance claim?

Today I had to get some new plug wires for the Subaru so I spent quite a bit of $$$ this weekend.

Also I got a free car! This girl whos family Ive done alot of work for at the shop went out this weekend and got herself a new ride. Her Mom called me up today and told me her daughter wanted to give me her old car. 1996 fNord Aspire. Not the greatest car ever made but for free I couldent refuse. I offered to give her a $100 for it but they want to give it to me. They spent over $4000 on this car over the past 6 years and now it just needs some lifters replaced, RMS a few other gaskets and a clock spring. It runs ok now but for a few hundred bucks and some time I should make a few bucks on it. All going to the BB fund.

Re: What did you get done? XLI edition

I spent the whole weekend wrenching on a Ford...

Lifted a friend's 95 Bronco 6", and put a set of 37s on... Mean Bronco kicked my K25, and stepside out of my shop into the cold for the whole weekend!

And yes, the girl in the pic is the owner of the truck, and she daily drives it

Maybe next weekend I'll actually get something done on my truck for once

Did not do much this weekend just hung around and worked on some school work. Also gotta little father on my wood shop project. I guess college is alittle more work then i thought

Also while searching for a new project i stumbeled across a rare gem. It is a 1941 plymouth Pick up. True it is not a chevy but it is a rare truck. I talked it over with my father and we think the price is pretty fair. so who knows with alotta luck this could be our new project / driver. I would want to restore and get away from the hot rod style it has now.

sorry for the long post but take a look and tell me what you think.
