Those look like 10mm leds. Led's come in 3mm, 5mm and 10mm. The 10mm would be much easier for the do-it-yourselfer because they take less to cover the same area. Musclerods are definately a good deal, but im a college student and i dont have alot of extra cash. My time isnt worth anything to me, so im going to give it the ole' college try with my setup. I will probably end up using 100 for each side. thats going to take a lot of soldering

I posted four pics a couple posts down on the thread below. The brake lights I bought appear the be the same or substantially similar to musclerodz. I really was impressed with the reflectors at the bottom.

Ok, so friday i got some of my red LED's in the mail. I bought 100 from one seller and 200 from another. So far i have only gotten 100 of them. I bought from two different sellers, so i only have put half of the lights in. Im kinda worried that they will be two different mcd, so i only used 50/50.

im using half for parking lights and half for turn signals. Im hoping that there will be enough difference in them to be noticable and the other 200 im wating on will be brighter. BTW i used 180 ohm resistors and series of five. These red leds are only rated at 1.8-2.2 volts. with these resistors they each ended up getting a little over 1.85 volts.

I think I'll buy the tail lights (I don't have quite as much ambition as you

) but I'm planning on making my own sidemarkers and front signals.

I don't have the patience either and my soldering looks worse than my welding! nice job, are they waterproof then due to the glue?

Those look great, I wonder how they would look with every other line... you had amber LED's and they were only wired for turn sinals, not running lights

I think you might be getting me confused with 68w/sbc406. I havent built my turn signals yet. Just reverse lights and this one brake light. So far i'm only half done with this one.

The glue is mostly to prevent the solder from breaking...at least thats why i do it. I guess it would help with waterproofing though.

I wont have any updates till this weekend (its my b-day

). I should get the rest of my LED's in the mail tomorrow or tuesday.

You did a very nice job on building those!. Mine were hand made and coated with some type of rubberized brush on coating to seal the back.

These things would be a lot easier to build if you didnt have to draw out that grid. darn thing takes forever to draw.

yea i made some progress!! I got one side completely done. Finally! The only problem i came accross was very weird. My clear/red leds shine red, but when put behind the red lens look kinda yellow. Very strange.

anybody know the part number and where i can get one of those electronic flashers? my hazards are flashing crazy fast with the addition of the parking lights. Im going to go get some of that perfboard and make a set of brake lights for dad's "rat rod" 55 belair 2dr hardtop. Then maybe i can finish my other brake light.
