Re: Check out these headlights
it is alot of work, but i dont agree with the lines. the 63 that got posted, has been painted now, yellow and white. if im not mistake, IF customs built the 63, i remember, because it has a 3-4" chop, and lays doors, and they claim its the lowest 60-66 chevy truck. my panel was chopped 6" layin rocker, which is about the same, and i wanted them to measure overall height. and, if you look in the pics, Grants Customs made the first truck. i may be wrong though.

Great craftsmanship... don't like it so much, but can appreciate it.

Looking at it again it looks like a cross between Ranchero and a El Camino

Re: Check out these headlights
I hope you guys aren't taking me the wrong way on my comment - I'm not knocking the craftsmanship of the quality of work. I think the workmanship is top notch and I wish I could work metal like that.
It's just that top bodyline...The pic above shows it best. The hood line rises from front to rear, then the door line falls front to rear, then the bed line is flat. It just doesn't flow in my eyes, and it pulls the focus away from the other great work that was done. What comes to my mind as a first thought is that it looks like he aired down while over a parking stop and the truck 'bent' upward at the front of the door (I know that wouldn't happen - that's just what the look reminds me of). It's just an awkward flow - for me. That doesn't mean that the rest of the truck is crap in my view, just not something that, as a whole, would grab my eye in a good way in a sea of customs. Herb edit - the door line may be a factor of the photo angle after studying it - it may just be the the front slope coupled with the low front and the massive at the front following the seam shaving makes it look 'heavy' at the bottom front - kinda hard to describe the concept that I mean. Re: Check out these headlights
I agree with you Herb101, I was thinking the same thing as soon as I saw the pics of the truck and then I scrolled down and saw that you already mentioned it. I wonder if the builder has noticed. Sometimes you are blinded from working on the project.

Re: Check out these headlights
kinda late to this thread.that truck is on the cover of sport truck this month.the headlights caught my attention so i bought the magazine.the mods to the truck are insane.the nose was pinched, roof reshaped?,and the cab streched 5 inches just to name a few.i did a search on here to see if anybody else has tried using the commander headlights and what it might take to install them.i've found them on ebay anywhere from $40-$100 a piece with tabs broken off?i was thinking maybe there was a recall on them because they all seem to have the same tabs broken off but i had a buddy call the parts manager at a jeep dealer and he said there wasnt(hoping to score a pair free b/c i work at a dealership and they usually dont call back for recalled parts-just thrown out).i can get them for about $170 a piece but im not sure if i got the skill to install them if alot of fab work is needed.i also found a company that makes a halo kit(like bmw headlights)for the same headlights that i think would look mean on our trucks.im doing my first build and dont have the skill or confidence yet to try something original,so i look around and find things that look cool, and already work, and try to figure out how to do it(in other words, steal other peoples ideas but those headlights look badass).one of the problems i see,is that the turn signal is part of the headlight assembly and would have to be cut off.it says in the article that the grill was custom made also(which is obvious) so it might not look as good in a factory grill.maybe when i get to that point i'll grow a pair and try it.if anybody else has tried it,id love to see pics of how it turned out.

Re: Check out these headlights
That is a lot of body work... looks good! Nothing I'd take on or attempt, but a different perspective that's for sure.

Re: Check out these headlights
I think the mod on the clip woulds look better on a tall hood. Something about how it lays down like that does screw up the body lines.
