Re: Look what I found...C-50
I drove a '74 C-65, with a 427, five-speed with a 4-speed auxillary (crash) gearbox. Don't want one of those setups, again. Splitting gears was fun, for a little bit. Next time, get one with a 10 or 13-speed gearbox.
Nice big trucks. There was one in Central Arkansas that was a working dump truck..a '69 CST cab with all the bright trim that goes along with it. Only one I recall seeing. It was a C-50, I believe, single rear axle, but with a helper axle attached, with air springs on it (to adjust the weight so it would axle-out with a load).

Here's my 67 C-50 wrecker. I plan to make it a satin black, flamed overstuffed rat rod wrecker eventually, but I have too many projects!

Re: Look what I found...C-50
The city here has a C-50 they use for hauling limbs and chips in the summer. Was following it one day when some idiot in a Toyota decided he was going to pass on his blind side..................Flipped the Toyota and just put a crease in the bumper and fender on the C-50..............damned tough ole trucks.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
Seems like anything over 80" wide at any point had to have regulation lighting equipment. Clearance lights, side markers, etc.
I have a CDL and no health card. I'm good to 62K. Of course, I drive a school bus, and am restricted to them. Otherwise, I have to pay more money for my CDL. It's all good.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
I've been reading, and this response is a little late. The 3 ton trucks also has the air intake on the hoods when they had the 366. I have a 1969 GMC 960 3 ton at home with the 366, 4 barrel holley, 5 speed with a 2 speed rear axle. Probably one of my favourite trucks to drive.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
Wow I have been searching for a forum like this for a long time. I have a 1970 GMC 5500 or 6500 I'm not sure. Does anyone know where to buy front fenders? I'm trying to post a pic with this, but it isn't working for me.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
My neighbors are having their roof reshingled and the company that's doing it is driving a truck that looks exactly like that except it's dark green. GMCMAC, your pictures are probably too large and need to be resized to post them, and welcome to the boards.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
I haven't figured out why my pictures will not uplaod but I think this link works.
http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...0&uid=10809658 This picture is a 1970 C-50 I am going to restore. It is the truck I learned to drive with when I was a kid. I guess body parts like fenders are hard to find? I have read the other posts haha. |

Re: Look what I found...C-50
They are great for hauling trash, gravel, etc. I got a 1970 C-50 not long ago. It has some body issues on the driver's side, but it is tough.

Re: Look what I found...C-50
Just a thought, but how cool would one of these be with a Cummins C series, and a 18 speed Eaton double over...
