I don't have any other pics. But as far as the chop, its best to cut the top into quarters, then weld the sections back, after you take out how ever much of a chop. Then fill in the gaps between the sections. but behind the doors there is a lot cutting down and fills. As far as the windshield, mine cracked, so I haven't crossed that bridge yet.

Yeah, but you have one sweet ride in the making! Your wife will get over it, or maybe not, and as a gearhead your wallet will always hate you.

Re: First custom build 63 c10

Im doing the drip rail on mine did you do it in short sections cutting and welding or just lop it off then weld it? What hinges did you use for the doors for them to miss the cab like they do? Great work by the way.

Re: First custom build 63 c10

I did do mine in small 3"-5" sections. the metal becomes thin there and is a little tough to weld back. In the end I also welded a 5/16 solid rod on the inside where the top and front meet for strength. (not sure if needed). the small dia. rod can be bent to the contour of the cab. The Hinges are the factory ones. the doors and cab jams are all X-out. the front of the drivers side door was cut off and welded to the rear of the passenger door, the the rear of the drivers welded to the front of the passenger door. then the cab jams done the same way. a crazy amount of work. a hinge kit would be ALOT easier. but it is a really cool mod.

always wondered if you finished this truck...

I had thought of doing the drip rail on my custom truck the same way...
