Re: new radiator... still hot

[QUOTE=63 & 64 Bowties;2356302]No thermostat at all will actually make your truck run hotter. Without the restriction of the thermostat's reduced size opening the coolant actually moves too fast and doesn't spend enough time in the radiator to cool like it should. QUOTE]

I've heard this before, understand the logic, and actually believe it.

The paradox is, when I was having cooling problems (before I put in the new radiator) I also took out the thermostat. The temp never got above 160.

So with a thermostat my old rad didn't cool enough, without it, it cooled too much.

Re: new radiator... still hot

well good news is I have a radiator that can work with a auto transmission, if I ever decide to swap..... I pulled the other plug to see if coolant comes out... and NOPE, only air... so I guess the radiator is a universal for auto or manual. It was supposed to only be for a manual trans...

I hooked up the sunpro wire to the stock sender after the engine was 180+ and It registers with the gauge. SO, I will use it that way till I can trust that the engine is cooling properly, then I will hook up the wire that goes to the stock gauge. Maybe once spring comes next year I will put the new sender in the thermostat housing so that I have a back up reading as summer starts to get hotter.
