Re: Here is my new toy
Great buy Randy!
I will be keeping an eye on your project since we are in the same boat. I do prefer the white over my green ( don't tell the "others" but I like the two eyed chevys better than the four eyed jimmies!!!!!) Unless you want to keep it original looking, I would put a grey interior in ( cooler ).... john

Re: Here is my new toy
Thanks Guys!!
Sold the interior out of it, look what I found behind the seat!!! This the first one I've ever found, I can't tell you how many trucks I've bought and also the one I've parted over the years and never found a build sheet before

Re: Here is my new toy
This is all part of the plan.... he sold the interior out of it to make his wife think he's parting it...then when she least expects it, 1,500 dollars worth of brand new interior pieces show up on the front step. lol....
price of truck XX amount of dollars... price of tow transport home 800 dollars... look on wifes face when you tell her this ones here to stay......PRICELESS by the way... finding a buildsheet would be sweet! congrats! Last edited by andrewt2; 03-12-2008 at 05:37 AM. |

Re: Here is my new toy
Great find Randy! I was beginning to think the build sheet behind the seat was a myth. You have removed more seats than anyone I know and I was always surprised you hadn't ever found one.

Re: Here is my new toy
Nice truck Randy. The only trucks I have ever found that had the build sheet are the Fremont CA built trucks. My 72 original Cheyenne 4x4 had that one and taped to the gas tank under the cardboard cover was a second with notes written it from the assembly line. I don't have a picture of that maybe my buddy Dan who bought it will produce them. Are you going to change it to a Cheyenne with carpet and woodgrain mouldings or leave it a Custom Deluxe? Mark

Re: Here is my new toy
i bought a 71 cheyenne shortbox several years ago and when i lifted the carpet on the driverside there was a stack of build sheets-looked like 5 or 6 sheets at least-they were all stuck together so i don't know if they all went to the same truck or not. it also had one behind the seat.

Re: Here is my new toy
Randy the hiding is the fun part. I had mine for 3 months parked in broad day light at my mom's house, 2 counties away and my wife never noticed it, until she and my mom and sister -in -law went out to eat one night. Sis in law was in back and as my wife was backing up, she says "Look out for Harold's new truck" (wife hadn't noticed it when she pulled up) in any case a phone call quickly followed with demands of how long it had been there etc. , so I replied at least three months and since you did not notice you can't get mad. That was the last she said about it and she even bought me some stuff for it for christmas, go figure. Nice truck and have fun with it and the wife.

someone had installed a '66 or '67 seat in my '69, but the build sheet stayed with the original truck papers/protect-o-plate.... Randy, what plant did your rig come from??

I enjoyed doing the HEI swap Randy, that thing is going to be nice! I think we should just go ahead and paint it blue and white!
I also enjoyed meeting and talking to Andrew. If you guys can't make it to a board meet, go to Randys on the weekends, you can meet all kinds of board members at his place. Jeff
