I painted in place, but stripped down to the shortblock since I was replacing the heads. There's so much room in there, it was really pretty easy; masking tape and newspaper keep the overspray under control.

I'm happy with the duplicolor orange and aluminum paint, but the can of black I bought really sucked at shine. Maybe it was a bad can, but I redid the black stuff with rustoleum gloss.

I'm thinking about ordering the Summit branded ceramic coated headers for $179. Anyone have a recommendation for some cheap but good sounding mufflers that I can bolt on? Open headers will be a bit too much for my neighbors.
Not that you know me from Adam, but my suggestion (instead of headers) would be to get a set of rams horn exhaust manifolds. They will REALLY beautify the engine work you've already done.

As far as mufflers, I'd get a set of either Cherry Bomb mufflers (mounted right before you flip the exhaust over the rear axle) or some set of Flowmaster (or clones). You'll have to listen to a few models before you pick one.
