Maybe it might be better to say "How is that relevant to the job I'm applying for ?" in the most polite way possible when asked the question. It's really an invalid question if the job doesn't require driving during working hours. I would answer "The vehicle I drive is irrelevant, but I can assure you that I do have reliable transportation and I will be here on time when scheduled to work."

If you must drive up to a small place of business where the person who will be interviewing you may see you pull up, or walk outside when you leave, maybe borrowing a newer car from someone might be a good idea, even if they don't ask what you drive.

If you can get past this stumbling block and get a job with the truck you have, you may be able to keep the truck and buy whatever other vehicle you want. Always nice to have a backup.

That's what sucks. As irrelevant as the question is, it's pretty much legal for an employer in AZ to do and act and ask what they wish. Granted I don't have to answer, I'm pretty much screwed whether I do or don't. I'll just start takin my dad's 08 Frontier to job interviews or something.

I wouldn't mind keeping the truck, but I really just want a change also. It'd be nice to afford both.

My son has been out of a job for 5 months, last month I sold my 86 and now I have my 78 camper special for sale. I'm trying to help him out so he will not loose the house he closed on the week before he was laid off. I feel your pain extreme!!!!!!

Re: Well guys, my 73-87 days are coming to an end

you should keep the truck like someone said and pick up a geo metro. Believe it or not they get very close to the same gas mileage as a prius but at a fraction of the cost. My buddy has a caprice, unmolested previously owned by an old man who barely drove it, with the smaller v8 and he says the gas mileage is really anything to brag about.

"I have reliable transportation." That is all they need to know.

You have to do what is right for you, though. I went through this just a few months ago. Fortunately, with my wife's encouragement, I have worked out a plan to keep my truck. I'm buying a Ford.

I will not drive a car like that for safety reasons. I don't want to be sitting in a tin can when someone in a lifted F250 doesnt see me... ya know

I like big vehicles... always have. The Vic is still a fullsize car

Nah the insurance will be a little more, but not much more.

I pay 60 a month for full coverage on the truck right now. The vic will be like 72 full coverage.

Re: Well guys, my 73-87 days are coming to an end

i love how most of y'all don't know the truth about crown vics, personally i'm on my second, and trying to get my parents to get one, i think i'd feel safer in a crown vic than in a chevy truck, insurance for me is the same as it would be on any other vehicle( i only get liability on most of my vehicles) they sound good with flows, and you can fit quite a few people in them if need be, a good forum for crown vic's is crownvic.net, do not say anything about a light bar though, you'll get flamed( i could care less, i've thought about putting one on mine) here are the pics, this is a pic of my first one i sold in June

and my second one i own now

i would buy another, and might, but i also may buy a tahoe or suburban, or f 150, we shall see

CROWN VIC'S ARE VERY GOOD CARS!

Thanks for the info man. I love it. I'm trying to buy my buddy's car if my truck sells, and I can't wait to get that thing.

If and when I do get it, I have no plans of a light bar, however I do want the good push bumper (rhino?) and a CB antenna off the back to "fake em out"

I plan to do some strobes in the back window and in the grille, however it would just be for show purposes lol... just for fun.

Go Rhino would be the brand of pushbar you're talking about, that's what on my car, my car still has a strobe power supply box on it, and i removed 25+ feet of strobe wire also.

like i said i'm cool with putting lights and stuff on people's cars, but CVN (crownvic.net) frowns upon stuff like that

you need to check out the spark plug problem with the mod-motors. It has happened to 2 of my friends. Look for a forum dealing with the 4.6 & 5.4 engines.

Not to pry, but what line of work are you in? Maybe someone on here could help you out. It's great that we can help each other with truck problems, but I'll wager I'm not the only one on here that would help if they could.

Re: Well guys, my 73-87 days are coming to an end

I know the economy is bad almost every where, especially here in Southeast Missouri.

I was out of work for over a year, but finally landed a low paying job at an auto parts store.

I thought about selling my two trucks, but thank goodness that was just a fleeting thought.

My wife's daily driver is a '06 Grand Marquis, our second, and it gets 22-24 mpg. We have never had any trouble with either one and they are full-size and real comfortable to drive on long trips.

When driving locally I use my '71 long stepper, but for going to work I drive a '86 Toyota 4-Runner.

With the economy the way it now days we have to do what it takes to stay afloat.

Hopefully I will never have to get rid of my old trucks though.

Danny

I prefer computers... software... tech support... internet related stuff I'm good with. That's what I'd like to do as I used to do it in the past...

But right now I'm not picky. I'm looking for anything I can.

Already looked it up. Not worried about it really... seems to only really be a trend under certain conditions.
