That's a good question.

On the powdercoating forum boards, there are a bunch of guys that coat assembled calipers every day.

But, I am a perfectionist, and my calipers are off an unknown history 84 model donor truck. I disassembled them so I could polish the pistons and bores and replace the seals and boots. This allowed me to get the caliper spotless in all areas and negate any worry about brake fluid oozing out into my powder during the process. The kits to rebuild these calipers are 6 bucks each at O Reillys, so that's the way I went. The guys on the powdercoating forums are doing exotic cars with calipers that take 80 dollar rebuild kits, so I can see why they don't do it the same way I do.

But I will say, my calipers don't have any masking lines or uncoated areas (other than the threads and the bores).

Off-post, but Shirley, AR is pretty much a LOOONNNGGG ways away from me. Would be about an hour-&-a-half drive or more, to the South.
