Re: Project: 1970 4x4 underway...

please excuse the crappy picture, almost completed with the double din radio slot and just finished with the firewall this weekend; still some more work to do inside the cab, then off to spraying; hopefully in a month or so... i still can't decide what color to paint it, change my mind every other week...

Nice Build! I'm putting together parts and pieces to use a similar drive train in a 83 K20. Keep it up!

Re: Project: 1970 4x4 underway...

Did you by chance take a better picture of the label on the transfer case cover?
Would love to know if that is an original sticker or not.
I am kind of a sticker addict......

On the K10s the V8 sits back about 2.75-3" more than the C10s.
It is REALLY tight, my distributor cleared by about 1/2".
You might want to trial fit the bed and motor before you finalize everything.

If your drivetrain package works I might make a change on the third truck.
Please post ASAP.

Re: Project: 1970 4x4 underway...

finally got the hood, bed floor, 2 doors and all 4 wheel wells painted... synergy green met. this paint is kinda difficult to paint, it is very clear and will show all blemishes on the body; so good prep is a must. i was going with sunset orange for the longest time, but since there are so many orange trucks, i figure this green would be pretty cool to have. pics aren't that well, indoor pics don't show the shine and outdoor pic has too much glare.

Re: Project: 1970 4x4 underway...

i would adress the issue of the tow hooks.
if you pull anything they way they are you run a pretty good risk of snapping them.
they need to be laid "fat side" towards the item towed. (flip them around at least and give them a bit of an angle forward)

Re: Project: 1970 4x4 underway...

I really dig that color of green you chose. I'am still not sure if i should piant mine green when the mods are all finished. My truck is the same factory color of green as yours was.

What did you use for painting the frame and what prep work did you do?
