Re: 6 lug/ 5 lug?
Yeah, either way, 5 or 6, whichever is (honestly) the cheapest. I'm not going restomod on this one, so drums are fine in the front. I mean, they suck and all, but It's been done for decades.
This is all very good info. I've located a front end off a late 70's suburban (I think a 4x4) for a few hundred bucks, but I need to verify that it's the same 5 lug pattern I have in the rear. If not, it's almost useless. I like the 6 lug rear axle swap plan, and it'll put me about the same cost I guess. I don't think axle changes are too difficult- A lot easier than changing ball joints and rusty crusty front suspension parts! Thanks guys!

Myself I wouldn't pay more than $150 for a C10 front suspension unless it has been rebuilt recently.

Re: 6 lug/ 5 lug?
and as far as I know you can't put 6 lug axles in a five lug differential, you will have to swap the entire differential.

Re: 6 lug/ 5 lug?
No they are not. Most came with 4.10 or 3.73. But you can get diffrent ratio's depending what motor was used.
