there were a lot of 261's used in canadian gmc's until 62
the 235 was used up until 62 . I think that the 235 was used in us gmc's.
if the ser nbr goes 61C93 it will designate canadian. if it goes 61C3 it is us production. a 9 after the C or K or whatever other letter is in that postion refers to canadian production. A lot of the us trucks were built in canada but were produuced with us designated ser #'s

Re: 61 GMC With 10' Bed??

FINALLY got the camera problem figured out and took some more pics, here they are:

I got a temporary permit for this beast and drove it around for a day, it gets lots of attention around town. There are VERY few of these trucks left in my area, and those that are are trailer and show queens, so it's a rarity to see one on the road. I wish I could get it safetied and on the road, of course it won't pass a safety due to the body having rust though.

Re: 61 GMC With 10' Bed??

Hey if you get a chance I was wondering what the wheelbase is, my guess is 133inches...
there is a chance that the data plate(if canadian trucks have them ) says the wheelbase. the data plate is on the lefthand side under the dash,by the vent.
or you might have to measure it, dosen't have to be exact, the main thing I am wondering is if it is a 133 or not.
thanks

Re: 61 GMC With 10' Bed??

Yep it's a C93604 1 ton, so should have the 133 inch wheelbase. I don't think the data plate said the wheelbase, I can measure tomorrow just to confirm though. And yeah it definately IS NOT a 10' bed lol.

Ahhh I can only wish. I felt fine drivin it around with a temp permit, it has new rockers and floors, what more can you need eh? But here for a vehicle to pass safety there can be no sharp edges or holes caused by rust, if there are YOU FAIL. (I know I used to inspect vehicles when I worked in the auto shop lol). It sucks but it's the rules. Can't get a "fit" ownership/license plates/insurance without a safety check.
