Re: The ones that got away!
My uncle handed down his '65 c-10 to me when I was in high school. It was my first vehicle. I loved that old truck. Fed a lot of cattle out of that truck, when I was a boy, and learned how to drive a clutch in that thing. Gave it back to dad when I went to college and got a gas sipper.
Dad takes it to his friend's body shop a few years later. As the old '65 was out there awaiting it's new color, the shop was struck by lightning. Little shop burned and everything in it, which included his '34 ford roadster. I remember when dad called and said ol' blue passed away. Re: The ones that got away!
Here are a couple that I no longer have but wish I still did. These are just the '60-'66 truck type ones, there's a couple others besides these two.
The first one is my very first Suburban. It was a '63 with a 292, a 4 speed and it had all 3 seats, plus a couple extras. That thing did good in the snow. The next one is a '63 M80 series 3 axle truck with a 8' x 8' x 18' dump bed. There was no engine in it when I got it, but I ended up with the 396 that came out of it. It had a 5 speed main box and a 4 speed auxillary and air over hydraulic brakes. I never did get it going.

Re: The ones that got away!
Thanks Tony. I really wished I could have kept it, but at the time I no longer had a place to keep it, so it had to go.
That is the same grill that is also in the '63 C60 that I currently have. I know that the headlight bezels are '62 pickup style, but I believe this grill is the original for the '63, 60 and 80 series trucks. I'm not sure about the 40 and 50 series grills for '63.

Re: The ones that got away!
I have a bunch of parts from a '62 Chevy C60 truck, including the grille and it looks the same as yours.

Re: The ones that got away!
This was my ride in college. It was promptly stolen, after taking an autobody class, in which, I restored the truck. I remember the day I stood in the police impound yard, waiting to identify my truck...it was one of the saddest days of my, then young, life. The photo of the truck in primer is 1988. The photo of the truck in red/white, is 1983, before I restored it.

Re: The ones that got away!
Tony,
I have noticed a reoccouring theme with your posts. Looks like you are a red & white longbed fleet dedicated lifer! So much so that when I see a red and white fleet (like the one below I saw at the Winternationals) I think, Tony would like that one! Last edited by lakeroadster; 02-21-2010 at 08:45 AM. |
