I need a little help with Trick Front Springs

the stock front springs have a pig tail on the top do the jeep or moroso springs have the pig tail and if not how are you locating the top of the spring?

I didn't install mine myself, but it looks like they just set in place and stay.

I installed the #47195 springs in my truck and they wouldn't even hold the truck up according to the information I entered into the program I downloaded off the suspension101 thread they should have worked. My truck weighs 2205lbs on the front with me in it and the spring installed height I need is 10.5-11".

Man, that sucks. I hope it works out for me. I found a set of springs that should work according to the chart. I'm trying to scrape up the money to buy them from summitracing. I hope they'll take them back if they don't fit....anybody know if they will take them back?
Super73, I think the springs you took off that Jeep were the OME(old man emu) springs, because the stock v8 springs all seem to be 15" while the OME springs are 17+ and have a 180+/- spring rate. So maybe that's what you pulled out of the Cherokee.?
I was also wondering if I could just throw a 2" spacer in with the 15" Jeep springs I have...would that work the same? Would it give me my 17" spring with 180lbs spring rate?

I have ordered 3 set of spring from summit all at the same time and sent 2 back. They had no issue with it.

I have pulled 3 sets of springs from Grand Cherokees. All of them were 17+ " but some of them were way too soft.

I think a 15" 180 spring might go in to coild bind.

Would you happen to have a set of the firmer ones you could sell? I can't seem to find the right ones anywhere. I've tried ebay, online junkyards, local junkyards, neighbors with old jeeps, and Jeep forums. I only seem to find the 15" ones or the v6 ones.

Well I still couldn't find any acceptable Jeep springs, so I'm ordering a brand new set from Summit on Saturday. I'll let you guys know how the work out next week.

I haven't measured them yet, but according to their website they were supposed to be 17.87" tall and have a 170 spring rate. I'm about to drop some decent weight off the front, so I should be ok. I'll find a tape measure and report back today.

The only way to really figure out what is going on is to use four wheel scales. If you have any dirt racing buddies they should have some .

I should have bought me a set of scales last year, but I didn't see myself needing them like I do now. There's no dirt racing in this area, so I'm stuck with truck scales.

I was too scared to drive my truck to my buddy's shop a 1/2 mile away since last time I drove it someone made a false complaint that I was racing through town(the truck had been parked for 3hrs at the time of the complaint). So I decided to avoid the trouble and do the swap in my own muddy driveway.
I have to say, I'm learning a lot. I had to try several times with the spring compressor before I got it to sit right. Then I had to try a few different configurations with the safety chain. After 4 hours, I finally have the passenger side spring off. I think I was mostly scared of getting shot by the spring. The guy that I used to pay to do my springs used to warn me that I'd get shot or lose some fingers if I did it myself. We'll see what happens when I try to install the new one now.

The spring on the left is my current Moroso spring, the one in the middle is the 04 Jeep GCL spring, and the one on the right is the new spring. I hope it works out.

Success! I got one in and it sits exactly how I want it and it's loose as a goose. I'm ok physically, just a few scratches and cuts, mostly just tired though. I'll save the other side for tomorrow. I hope the springs don't settle much more though. I'll post a before and after pic tomorrow.

I couldn't wait, so I went and installed the driver side spring. Turns out my calculations were wrong. The driver side sits on the bumpstop while the passenger side is about 1"-1.5" from the bumpstop. The stance looks awesome to me. I'm gonna have to do some serious weight reduction now to make these springs work.....Or can I get away with this like it is? It's only used for drag racing.

That is odd that the truck is not level. Is it on the bump stop with or without you in it?

Did you line the end of the spring up in the notch of the lower control arm? If not, it could be jacking the passanger side up a little putting more weigt of the drivers side.

It's easy to pull the bump stops. See what happens it you pull them out (not saying to drive like that, but just to see if the drivers side goes down even further).

It sits like that without me in it. When I sit in it, both sides sit on the bumpstops and stay that way. After a few hours the passenger side lifts back up to .5" clearance. I'll pull the bumpstops and see what happens. I already ordered a new set of 213lbs springs, so I might be swapping them out Wednesday. I love this stance though.

Did you double check the pigtail location? Seems odd that it sits unlevel.

Have you taken a measurement from the ground to the fenderwell lip? Maybe the truck is level but the bump stop mount might be off.

Yes, the pigtails were seated correctly...top and bottom. I'll check the fender height. I think it's always been like that....1/2" to 1" difference between the two sides(as far as fender height).

I got the new springs in and I'm not happy with them. It's higher than it was with the 260lbs springs. I hope they settle 2" over the next week. I'm gonna jump around in the engine bay tomorrow to try and settle the springs...hopefully it works...I don't like the "running up-hill" look.

Observations:
17" 260lbs spring w/1.25 coils cut = too high and stiff(no weight transfer)
17.8" 170lbs spring = too soft, sits on bumpstops
18" 213lbs spring = soft and "springy", but too high
15" Jeep GCL spring = too short and too soft

My new springs settled a little and I'm about where I started before the spring swap except the front end isn't as stiff as it was before. It turns out that the manufacturer of the 17.8" springs had changed these springs up a bit and didn't update their spec chart. So the spreadsheet Super73 created was probably correct, but my info/spring specs were wrong. I took another 20lbs off the cab and I'm hoping to drop another 30lbs off the front end soon, so I'll probably be changing springs again.
