That truck has been to every state in the US (my friend took the license plate to Hawaii with him).

He still has the truck. It has close to 750,000 miles on it. It's been through a number of engines and transmissions. It has a '67-72 bed on it now.

3 weeks total - 4 days up, 4 days back, 13 days in AK. We saw as much as we could. It helped that the sun was out most of the time and we were young.

. What didn't help is that AK is 1/5 the size of the lower 48 (2.25 times as big as Texas)!

I believe that truck will see a million miles if he has to carry it.

Wow----what a trip down memory lane! I drove my 1972 blazer to Alaska the same year ( 1991 ). I worked on an offshore rig in Cook Inlet and stayed in Kenai during my week off. I worked 7 days on and 7 off.
I drove a lot of the same roads you did! I miss Alaska!

ps check out my bumper sticker, it is hard to read and says " I crossed the arctic circle in the land of the midnight sun".

That's a nice Blazer - a good rig to have up there. If we had seen that sticker when we were there, we probably would've plastered the truck with 'em. Alaska (in the summertime) was a great place...

Sweet pics. Those are a part of history to still have them all this time. Remember, 1991 was a time where there were no digital cameras and we still had film to take to the local store to get developed. Hahahaha!! Also, the shots of the land, animals, etc were so beautiful. Wow!!!!!!!!

Pic 1: Here's the owner at the end of the 1991 trip. The 3-on-the-tree linkage was so loose that he was the only one who could make it reliably from 1st to second!

Pic 2: The truck today. Still eating up miles. Still allowed in Canada (we must have offered the Canadians something to look the other way).

Pic 3: Haulin' 'yaks with the updated, modernized 67-72 bed.

I'm so used to driving for hours and hours to get outside of the province that whenever I'm in the US i feel like I'm really getting somewhere because the states are so small and go by so fast
