If I have to explain,you wouldn`t understand.Build it,don`t butcher it is my motto.I`ve built pro-street trucks,I`ve restored trucks to original,and I`ve had untouched originals like this one.I believe in leaving fine examples of originals as they are.If I want to build something I "build" it all the way,not get all lazy and hack up a good truck because it`s easy.It`s a matter of respect that some will never comprehend.I`d just feel selfish taking a well preserved 39 year old vehicle and altering it for my momentary purposes.I`m building a custom shortbed now using all unrusted GM sheetmetal from several trucks from all over the country.There won`t be a bolt I didn`t put on it and when done I can say I truly built it.I`m going to great lengths to have it appear to be an original truck someone modified.That`s building a custom truck,not ruining a peice of American history.

It's a cherry piece, no doubt about it, and that fact alone is what would make one helluva nice custom.
Pull out the engine, the tranny and 3/4 ton drivetrain and bolt in a new LSx crate motor with a new OD tranny and then bolt in some Porterbuilt goodies and you got a bad-ass all original-bodied truck with the latest technology for drivetrain and suspension. It's met my reserve and about a dozen questions a day have been replied to. One more day and someone looks to be a new owner. By the comments and questions from some of the higher bidders they are wanting an untouched low mile stock original for preservation.

I agree 100%, well almost 100%, I would put the 7.50-16 bais ply and 2 piece rims back on for authenticity. This truck is almost like a Rembrandt painting, only a fool would alter it.

19k is a deal any way you look at it.You can`t build one for that much.Before you do any math,figure you can`t build rustfree,you can`t build factory original,and there`s no labor in hopping in and driving.The best part is there`s no wait till it`s done,no busted knuckles,sweat,dirt in your eye,or searching for factory parts.You can set that thing next to a truck that`s been chopped/cut/billeted to death/computerized/custom painted/mega-motored/hoopty wheeled and get ever bit as much appreciation...and have enough money left over to buy another one.I like them in many forms and will always be happy if I have at least one stocker in my corral.

If this truck was only used to haul a trailer to the lake, etc., etc., and it only has 10,000 whatever miles on it, they should have fixed the oil leak, somewhere along the way.

I have always made the statement that Detroit never made anything that I couldn't make better. This truck, however, deserves to be left alone. There are very few truly original trucks out there and this one is an excellent example. I truly hope that whoever bought this truck sees it's intrinsic value and leaves it alone. You can always find another one to chop up, and if you're close by I will even help in the chopping.

Just wach a couple of barret jackson auctions and see how much more the mint factory chevelle or vette or pickup brings over the nicely done resto mod car!!!!!!!!
Any guy with 20k to spend didn't get that money by being stupid. guarenteed that that truck will stay the way it is and should be.
