Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
Dan,
Stand firm on your philosophy.... the world is full of people willing to cut corners or make compromises to try to please others. It's refreshing to see a vendor who builds the best product they know how while still doing everything possible to keep costs as low as they can. You'll never be able to hit a price point that pleases everyone, that's just a fact of life... that's not a dig on anyone here either. Just a simple observation. The product looks impressive, and if I was doing a more conventional build I'm sure these would be on my list. Ultimately, I will probably end up needed an outboarded set of headers when the time comes and I'm not sure that's something you even bother with.... Best of luck with your products. -G

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
Will header wrap adversly impact these headers or void the warranty?

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
Greg72,
thanks very much for your reply. I agree, there are loads of companies literally throwing products together as quick as possible, using the thinnest tubing, thin flanges, etc just to be able to price products at rock bottom. The old saying applies: "You get what you pay for". In the Impala SS community, some of my biggest supporters and happiest customers started out as owners using the "Jegs" brand headers. So it's like anything, as customers purchase and install and replace the lower quality headers time and time again, they will eventually see the value in doing it just once for the higher price. But you can only purchase the most affordable to stay comfortable. I hope our Lay-A-Way plan will help bridge the gap. Thanks again. Quote:
Here's a 6 month old set of ceramic coated mild steel headers a customer decided to wrap: Why NOT to use heat wrap! EVER! http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/...s/P4020011.JPG I was able to literally crush the tubing with my bare hands. DON'T DO IT!!! Did I mention you should NEVER wrap headers? Yeah, DON'T!!!! Enough said. Last edited by Clear Image (Dan); 07-19-2010 at 04:07 PM. |

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
I have tried to call Steve several times to place my order and have yet to get a hold of him. Even left a call back number with no luck. So if today is deadline, looks like I missed out. Been trying to order a set since last Friday morning.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
Steve took a mini vacation and will not be back until Wednesay. So, consider this extended through this Friday.
Thus far, two have committed. Matt, works for Steve, just came over and said there were three calls since Friday so this may put us at the minimum of 5. Thanks again. |

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
I would definitely purchase a mild steel 1 3/4" small block set if we had enough for a GP. I have been looking for a good fitting 1 3/4 header for weeks and this seems to be the best one. So how many does that make for the small blocks?

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to have to drop my name from the list. The 406 in my camaro started knocking, I pulled the valve cover and found this,
The push rod was smacking around in the lifter bore on the cam lobe and the lifter is somewhere in the intake valley. The money I had saved for my truck is going to have to go into getting this fixed. I'm sure my camshaft is trashed as is the bronze sleeve I have in the lifter bore. Sorry guys, I wished I could have bought a set.

Re: 68-72 Header Group Buy
Looking for an update.... Did either of the sets make their numbers? If not, is Dan willing to do anything for those that did commit?
