Re: What did you get done 8/15/2010

I replaced my valve cover gaskets and fixed an exhaust leak on the truck. The driver's side gasket had a 1/4 inch break in it, and pumped oil out almost as fast as I could pour it in. The underside of the truck looks terrible!

I managed to hit the hood latch with my bald head, and took a nice chunk of meat out of the top of it.

I have been ignoring the truck for a while, and I need to start getting it ready to work. My wife and I are buying a 60 year old house that needs a lot of work, so I'll be using it to move a lot of materials. Once that is done, I have to move 19 years worth of stuff from the current house to the new one.

cruized in it a bit. Took the lawn clippings to the lawn dump (in 55 gallon barrels of course ) Changed the air filter put on a chrome exhaust tip. Simple lazy weekend stuff. This next weekend I'll work on the 79 and then replace the valve cover gaskets and try to clean the motor up a bit.

Re: What did you get done 8/15/2010

I went to the Symco Shakedown in Symco, WI. It was a little over a 3hr drive for me in my recently lowered suburban. Other than bottoming hard on a few county roads it performed flawlessly. I also met a fellow square body guy, he had a '78 regular cab shortbed two wheel drive with an inline 6 and 3 on the tree. Nice little truck, he did a 2/4 drop on it and he's actually the second owner. Very low mile, clean truck. Wish I would've gotten pics but just forgot. I will have to post pictures of the car show, it was the best i've been to. The setting was an old town, old buildings, antique farm equipment, tractors, etc. Very cool show, and very cheap. $10 to get it show and $10 to camp. It was a very fun weekend, pics to follow....

Re: What did you get done 8/15/2010

truck related... nothing much.. went up to Kamloops for the weekend, to visit some family that's in the local hospital... a blessing in disguise though, as it has given me tones of motivation to get this truck done.. as i'm going to be needing to make the 450 mile trip a couple times a month now.

but I came back and made some fuel fittings last night, if you can't buy them.. just gotta make 'em.

Re: What did you get done 8/15/2010

only had a couple of hours last night, but I got my cab corners cut out of one of my project trucks and started prepping the replacements. I plan on perfecting the trimming for fitment of the replacement corners and welding them in tonight.
