Well the wheels have shipped and I have the tires due in a few days.. Been busy moving to a new home.... truck is still at the old house and I will be getting it moved soon. Bummer moving.. Will post up the pics when I get the wheels here and the tires mounted. I am going to mount them up on the raw wheels first before paint. Been working on the hydro boost lines at this point along with the new Ididit colum.. need to choose a steering wheel at this point.

Well they are here!!! Looking good I mounted them up raw to check fitment.

I think I will paint them The burgandy and leave the caps chrome and add a grey stripe.

Well Called Stockton today and same old BS they will ship next week. We had to get this and do that. SO at this point the 2 day turn around has turned into 29 total days. But they are not chargin me for the incorrect back spacing. I will let you know when I get them

Well , the rear wheels hit the box... that is under stating hugely. With a 3/4 spacer they still hit the inner fender well. So I am f'ckd at this point. I am done with mail order if I cannot touch it bolt it on I dont need it. I went by what they told me would work, as they had built tons of them this way. I explained in great detail to them I did not have the box on the frame so I could not give that spec. Frame specs where given and I was 100% assured they would fit without issue, well have to wait and see till monday to see what they want to do..

I am really getting tired of all of these so called custom made items that should fit with maybe a bit of work.. Custom made = does not fit chit, LOL Trying so hard to get my truck done and and I hit a wall at every step. ..

GMR, how much clearance to the outside do these wheels give you and what year rear end do you currently have? The rears look like 6-bolt, is that correct? As a last resort, if the supplier won't help, you could gain another 3/4 inch per side by scrounging up a late '70 rear (assuming you don't already have the newer, wider rear and you have the trailing arm/coil type), combined with the 3/4 spacers would give you 1.5 each side out from what you have.

Just a thought, I know it's not the ideal solution, which would be for the supplier to fix the problem.

I just saw that you have a '62 frame, so the above suggestion is not a straight bolt-in ALTHOUGH some say they've done it without relocating the the perches. Might still be cheaper than getting another set of wheels made up.

I have heard danger of running spacers but, good things about adapters, much safer. Plus you can space 1-2+ inches.

Well I just got off the phone with the owner of Stockton and they will alter the wheels for free, no issues in fact he was so quick to state they would fix them I was shocked. I was gearing up for a fight, and there was no reason at all. I told him what they where where they hit and that was it.. Box them up send them back we will cut them on the lather move them re weld , reblast and ship them back all for N/C

So for this size tire and my truck the 4 inch back spacing is what I need. So that has me smiling again... I will keep every up to date.. HE said it was a day job so time will tell how long a day really is at Stockton HA HA , all good even if it takes a weeks, not running adapters is well worth the wait.

they are 8 up front and 9 in the rear, so a 275 is flush with the rim edge or extremely close, lets say this drop the rim and tire and the rim will smack the ground.. so there is little issue with the tire being at fault what so ever.

OE 15x8 truck ralleys have 4" BS (as does the old Kelsey Hayes solid style steelies). I would have said 4.5" BS for a 9" wheel & OE width 63-70 12-bolt. This would theoretically split the difference on the width change w/o interfering.

The 4" BS should work w/your proposed drop amount.

You are correct with a 4 inch rear drop that box side is way down on the tire... I did tell them amount of front and rear drop as well.. WIth a 8 inch vs a 9 you are really only dealing with 1/2 inch on either side so at the end of the day 4 -4.5 would work. Myself would rather have to deal with maybe a bit of trimming or rolling the fender lip than trying to deal with the edge of the inner fender wheel.

Being that the stock gm 78 rim I had a 275 60 15 on it fit great and was well balanced from inner vs the outer I will go with teh stock back spacing . The stock rim is 1.5 on either side so it really is a great fit , you could go a bit in further, but with this short of a tire I do not see that there will be much if any tire wall deflection.

I read through all those complaints on the HAMB but ordered wheels from Stockton Wheel Co. anyway.

Why? Because all of the other 'choices' for steel wheels won't/don't build what I wanted. My experience was exactly as many described. They (it was actually 'Frank' that took my order) explained 'custom built wheels' have a 4-6 week lead time to ship. At the end of week 6, I start calling for progress updates. "Our computers are down, the 'guy' building them is on vacation, they're being built now, they're going to be started first thing next week, they're going out tomorrow", etc.... all the same excuses as posted starting back in 07 on that thread.

The most frustrating excuse when I called for my weekly update on Friday afternoons? "They're on the machine & he's almost finished". Why is that frustrating? I received the same excuse consecutive weeks in a row. My order was for 2 wheels . . .....

But, I knew of this probability going into it. I ordered my wheels the first week of January 2010; I received them in April less than a week after they actually shipped. I'm glad I planned for the delay & I wouldn't recommend them to anyone that has a schedule. I know delays are inevitable sometimes when out-sourcing painting, PC-ing, or chroming. Mine were bare steel & I was told they stock the rim hoops in house when I inquired about ordering.

Beyond the lengthy wait, I would not recommend them because of the continually frustrating 'excuses'. They were helpful & forthright until they were paid. Beyond that? Not so much.

Quality of the wheel? Moderate to excellent depending on your level of expectation. The wheels did have gouge marks in them so they're definitely not for a show car build w/o serious body-working. But, they were 'true' & painted up good enough for me to roll with.

Well I ordered mine in raw so pretty basic, mine have no large marks int he steel a few small things, but I for one wanted steel , as they look "correct" for that year and style.. I am not a huge billet fan... I deal with it on the Harley's all day every day... hardened aluminum ha ha that my friends is a oxymoron.. Example 600 dollar PM rear sprocket, it last less than 8 pulls on the super charged bike we are tuning. bike only made 184 hp at this point at 14 lbs boost. Missing teeth, worn out in that time.

Steel takes a beating and keeps on going.

I hope they bust this job out , Scoti if you live by them, did you stop in and ask WTF on the time line??
