Re: "Half Way There" A 71 4WD Blazer Build.

Well felllas, it's been a while. But we've made progress.
Got the grill, tailgate and bumper put on. I need to pick up a bumper bracket for the front before it can go on.

Sorry for the weird angle on this one, the garage is a little cramped. I need to do a little "massaging" on the driver side reverse light housing to get it to sit straight before the trim can go on that side.

The seat backs came in the mail along with the tailgate bumpers. The seats will be ready to pick up next week. The carpet and side trim is supposed to come in tomorrow. And we ordered a bunch of misc. parts that should be here next week to finish the job up.
If everything goes correctly, were hoping to have it road-worthy by the end of next week.

Also, I got the roll bar in. Just need a helping hand to torque it down.

After the bumper, trim and hatch are put back on, the outside will be done, giving me time to work on the disaster that is the dash right now.

Before I go, I need your guys' help. Do i have the weatherstripping on correctly in this pic? I feel like the deflector and the end of the top rubber doesn't meet up correctly.

Thanks everyone.

I suppose I ought to post pics of the "Turd." I mean, I have been lurking on this site for a few years now. Let's see what I can dig up on the 'puter at home. If nothing, I'll have to step outside and take some so long as this burly rain stops.

Me too! I think we had our best weather earlier this year. Bring on the sunshine and topless cruising!

Re: "Half Way There" A 71 4WD Blazer Build.

It's been a while, but we've got some progress to show.

Got the front bumper on...kinda. Still needs the passenger side bracket.

Got the seats back, onto the brackets, and in the truck right after we put down the carpet. They look pretty good, the original passenger side is now the drivers side and it's perfect.

Stereo, heater face, and the glove box are installed again too.

And the gauge cluster we picked up from the Monroe swap meet last summer has a new face and is installed also.

The build is now on it's final stretches. I still have a couple questions. We have about a half inch gap at the end of the bedside where the top and the truck should meet. Its right behind where the triangular cap goes onto the door. Are we missing something? If not, any remedies?

Also, I'm having trouble pulling the hatch handle off to replace it. I followed the steps in our GMC service manual but no go. I think the cotter pin might have broken off inside its hole. Any suggestions where I should start looking?

Thanks all.

Looking good! Any pictures of the gap to help show what you're working with?

Hit your gauge needles with some model paint. i think the color is called safety red. its a nice bright orange. I saw them do it on trucks. It will make them pop!
