Re: ash tray mod?

Good ideas all. Was wondering about the cup-holder from LMC too. I miss that feature which is common in newer vehicles. Been thinking of getting one too.

Was wondering if anyone actually just glassed it over in a dash restoration project.

For now though that ashtray serves my purpose on occasion for what it was designed for. I smoke!

That is a sterling idea. Add a plate across the open space and install two 12v outlets also. Jay

Yes I do like it. We can put 2 large Sonic drinks in there with no problems. Seems to be pretty sturdy. It will pull out fine but it is a snug fit so it doesn't move around. Since I'm not going to get rid of my bench seats and don't want anything on the floor, I'm quite satisfied with it. Sure beats sticking the cup between your legs and somehow end up poking the straw thru the cup. Not a fan of LMC so I got this here

Re: ash tray mod?

i have one of those universal cig lighter power strips with 3 plugs in it mounted in that space above the ash-tray when its folded down. I have my sat radio, phone charger and gps plugged into it. For the actual ash tray part, I have thought about the cup holder but I would rather use it for loose change and storage space.

BTW...my ashtray is always folded down due to the power strip

Re: ash tray mod?

I plan to weld mine up. I gave up smoking and i never have change these days. I also don't eat\drink while I drive I do my eating\drinking at the table.
I'm not in that big of a rush.

Re: ash tray mod?

I turned my ash tray into a control center for my stereo accoustic bass controller, the alarm override switch and there is room for the foglight switch.

As for the extra nuts and bolts, my Dad always told me to stuff 'em in the oil filter. "They know what they are, they'll find their home". Thank goodness I knew when he was serious and when he was joking!
