Have you checked the power valve in the holley? If it has backfired through the carb it usually blows the powervalve.

well if its back fire through the carb you got a timing issue chains jumped or a flat cam
the reson I ask about getting hot is if your radiator is pluged it wont let it build power once the engine is warmed up but you answerd my other question with a yes so can you get it up to speed if you eas in to the throttle real slow

Well I'm not sure what you mean by backfire thru the carb. I occasionally hear a pop from the exhaust, but not from the engine. The timing is good, it was checked twice and is where it suppose to be, I cant remember what that is though...35? Something like that.
I can ease up to 45 but anything after that is a no go. The coil was replace just last weekend. Really thinking its the socks... Last edited by xconcepts; 02-06-2011 at 02:15 PM. |

Holly carbs should have sintered bronze filters where the fuel feeds into the bowl/bowls. It does sound like a fuel delivery problem, did you check your rubber fuel lines for colapsing from suction, also if your gas cap is not venting it can cause the same problem.
