Re: Optima battery

I go with the deep cycle marine optima. It will start no matter the conditions.

Re: Optima battery

I bought a red top Optima for the higher CCAs since I installed a new stereo system including driving two amps, a headset, four speakers and a subwoofer. The Optima came with a full 3-year, no-cost replacement (not pro-rated) warranty from NAPA. And I used all four battery posts as I had to do a ton of grounding for my sound system. So far, so good. No issues. She starts up strong.

I read that Hot Rod article too. Didn't work. The theory behind it is good, if your battery has that particular problem, but I believe I damaged mine beyond repair by getting frustrated and trying to jump-start it. I've tried reviving it any way you can, it just ain't coming back. Makes an impressive doorstop though...people would never know I'm broke.

Re: Optima battery

Mine drains after 4 weeks or more if I don't run the truck. It will power equipment, but not turn over the motor. A quick charge and its up and running. The radio memory drains the battery. I use an auto battery charger. I set it at 2 amps. I charge it over night. The red top cranks over hard and fast on a full charge.
