Re: Caprice (9c1) rear disk brakes....
I don't have any direct evidence other than I have worked on a 96 CHP LT1 police car with 3.42's (off the code ID placard). A friend of mind has a rear axle out of a CHP car but I am not sure which gear ratio it is though. I agree all Impala SS are 3.08, but there were 3.42 9C1 police cars.

Must do things differently in the CHP then, because i and everyone on the SS forums, have never seen it. If you ever see it again, take a picture of the SPID i would LOVE to see it.

Re: Caprice (9c1) rear disk brakes....
Ok, according to one of the guys on the impala forums, all the LO5 9c1 cars were GU6 342 rears.
No LT1 94-96 cars were. So if your buddy has an LO5 rear, then yes it is a 342.

Re: Caprice (9c1) rear disk brakes....
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I am looking to do a caprice rear swap on a 1997 c1500 it is a GU6 3.42. This way i can get disc brakes and more lip on the rear wheel. I am looking for the following (I think). Disc brakes Narrow rear 1566MM 3.42 posi? What exactly do i ask for? Is there a certain RPO code that represents this exact model? Is it the LO5 9C1?
