I was thinking more along the lines of the tires hopping on you, not the rearend moving in the frame. I would get the bags ASAP. You can do it fairly cheap if you start out with bags, tubing and schrader valves before investing in a compressor. I did that for a long time on my 89. Just carried a small tire compressor that plugs into the lighter to adjust for loads. I was using them more as a overload spring.

Re: lowering question

seriously - rear coils are just about the cheapest and easiest thing you can buy for our trucks - cpps are 95 bucks - jeep TJs can be found in junkyard or c-list for cheaper then that - this is the last thing you need to cut corners on - n trust me - im a budget project broke a$$ muh fukah!!

You have to take the bump stop out. And with a sawzall, cut the bracket that holds it in place. It will give you like 3"s of more clearance. I did that to a few trucks, and worked just fine. NEVER did it bottom out. Unless you go off road or something.

Hey can you send a pic of the undercarage where you cut out the bump stop pracket? I am sitting on my bumpstops and would like a little extra travel...

Consider this before cutting....Every combo (truck) can potentially be different. One guys opinion of acceptable can be absolutely unacceptable for another.

When the bump-stops are cut/removed to prevent bottoming out against the x-member, something else will take it's place limiting the travel. It could be the lower a-arm shafts/bushings hitting the road, the tops of the tires buzzing the bottom of the fenderwells, or the shocks bottoming out.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
