Haven't lowered it yet. Been busy doing other stuff to it. First I got my friend JoeG to take off all that purple tint and put some dark stuff on there. I installed a new sound system (still have to make it pretty.) I compounded/buffed the crap out of the paint. You can actually see yourself in the paint now, even though it wasn't the greatest paint job to begin with. It's got bumps and bruises, but it IS a driver. I was also chasing down oil leaks for a bit and had to fix the power steering leaks. Finally think I nailed down the last leak as of 2 days ago! While that was going on, I got a notice that I needed to get it emissions tested. Failed 2 tests before I got the timing/carb set up "right" and passed. Had to adjust the floats and think I still need different metering rods, because it seems to still run rich under load. The fear I had of not passing emissions forced me to learn a lot about carburetors, so I guess it was a good thing. Anyway, I was hoping to get it lowered before Good Guys this year, but that isn't going to happen. But I still plan to do it in the future. Are you glad you asked?? LOL sorry for the novel

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
I'd really like to lower mine too, but like your's it's my daily drriver and I can't justify the cost. I'd also love to change wheels, but hard to tke off decent wheels and tires to swap for a small change and big money.
I got too many other cars pulling at the purse strings!

Wow! Emission testing on a vehicle that old? We don't test vehicles 1974 and older here.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
Yup. Arizona is bass ackwards! 67 and newer must get sniff tested. You can have the vintage rides covered under collector insurance available many places to get around the emission nonsense. However, insurance companies place many restrictions on said covered vehicles.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
It's only in the metropolitan areas of AZ, but yes, it is ridiculous. And like magicoolbus said, I could get classic car insurance, but I don't like having restrictions on how/when/where I drive my vehicles.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
Well, I ordered a static drop today... gonna try for a 4.5/6.
I find this funny, and I know I'm not the only one that does it. I would fill my cart to compare prices from different vendors. For some reason, all kinds of extra parts would make it into my cart every time. For example, I went to Summit to price out some shocks and next thing I know, I'm adding mufflers. Or I went to CPP to price the drop, and next thing I know, I had a tilt column and some LED lights in there. Luckily, I forced myself to stick to the suspension parts for now. This is supposed to be my cruiser until I get my '67 finished, not another broken down project! (First world problems, I know!)

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
Well got her lowered FINALLY. I was trying to be cheap and use some drop spindles I had left over from my '67. Figured I could do some "engineering" and get the parts to work. Well I found out that one of the previous owners had switched the lower control arms, spindles and all of the steering stuff (including the center link!) to 3/4-ton stuff. Well it's one thing to go from '72 1/2-ton to '67 1/2-ton, and SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to go from '72 3/4-ton to '67 1/2-ton. Needless to say, I tried just about everything but could not get it to work. So I replaced everything with '72 1/2-ton parts so that it would be correct. Ended up costing me more $$ than if I had done it right the first time...
Anyway, here's a crappy pic of her as she sits. I have some 2" drop blocks for the rear, haven't decided if I'm going to use them or not. It seems a bit bouncy in the rear, so I may have to find some different shocks.

Looks good!
Did you use rear shock relocators and an adjustable track bar?

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
Thx guys. Yes, I did the shock relocators, adjustable panhard and KYB shocks that everyone seems to use on their trucks.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
I think fronts are 5.25 and rears are 6.25", they only come in one backspacing. Then I have 1" spacers on the rear IIRC.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!
I've done nothing to her lately, between the heat and school, I just haven't been motivated. Here's a pic I took at Papago park a while back.

Thanks! She's been neglected lately, but I still drive the crap outta her. Too bad we didn't get to meet at GoodGuys, it's always nice to put a face to screen names!
