The safest solution to this issue is run a 18" or bigger wheel.
Do you have a pic of the box? id love to check some ideas before attempting myself...

Note: The 3" spindle and 1/2 of a coil cut off was a bit to low with the 8" rally wheel /255-60 tire. It also due to the geomety made the lower control arm closer to the wheel and I had to trim more off of the lower control arm.
X2

Re: 3inch spindles on 15in rim IMPUT NEEDED

I think you would like to have 2.5" spindles. I know I would. I'll get you some pics of my 3s with the rallys and the trimming of the control arm. The 15-7 rally wheel has more room than my 15-8s and according to others will fit. Your wheel has more material at the bottom tire bead area than mine.

Bottom line I wouldn't have done the trimming of the lower arm unless I had plenty of time and an extra set of control arms like I do. I plan on reinforcements of the lower control arm.

First pic is with the Half coil cut off, second is a new Moog stock spring. The cut springs were to low and I had clearance issues at the ball joint and the tire rubbing the fender on tight turns. Note pic 2 the angle of the lower control arm setting higher gave me more clearance. Pic 3 is the sweet spot for me was a total of 3.5" of drop. I've been told not to say what I've done to get a 1/2" off the spring, so I won't. (I'm not here to start a pisssing contest).
