The newer wire harness from your dad truck must have been for one with a neutral safety switch (NSS) on the steering column. Those two plugs-ins, purple wires and light green wires, originally went to the NSS.
Those two purple wires must be conected together in order for the truck to start. It is the same purple wire that goes down to the starter. The two green wires, I believe are for the back up lights. Hook the two purple wires together from the plug-in from the last picture and let us know what happens next. Good luck! Keith |

Ok I hooked the 2 purple wires together and the engine started to crank!....But it will only crank, it wont start.

Check battery and cable conections. Maybe even try to jump start it with another vehicle.

Sorry, should have asked, does it crank over slowly or does it just crank like normal only nothing happens?
Do you have an HEI distributor? If so, check ignition module under the rotor. Keith |

Regarding the distributor, if the harness isn't compatible (hei vs. non-hei) with the dizzy, you will have problems. Different voltages to the dizzy for hei vs . non.

Yea I was jumping it with another car and it cranks normal...and the distibutor is an HEI im pretty sure

Maybe a dumb question, but have you checked to make sure you are actually getting spark from your distributor when it is cranking? If something in the electrics is messed up, it may not spark.

FINALLY!!!!! We figured it out.......well I started to take apart my distributer......Ooooo well look what I found here........the last pic was the main culprit, cuz I first just changed the coil and the distributer cap....but then that didn't work so we changed out that module in the 3rd pic......SHES BACK!!!!!

Great, glad you found it ( and it didn't cost an arm and a leg)!
Good job sticking with it. Now, back to driving it. BTW, your truck was my screensaver for a while.

Yea just read the whole thing was going to guess it was the NSS. Glad you got it all done and it wasn't nothing spendy good job sticking with it!
