Re: Tonneau cover pics
I did notice that the Craftec has hidden handles. I have the hidden latches inside the tailgate. Wonder how you would close the tailgate or open the tonneau. I would think the tonneau would only work with the original chains on the tailgate.

As custom as your truck is, why not make electric lift or electric latches

My fuel tank is in the back of the pick up bed, I was going to look into making a handle or some sort of remote latching mechanism.....just so I will not have to lower the tailgate all the time. |

If I opted for the cantilever arms, when you unlock the cover, it automatically lifts.

Re: Tonneau cover pics
I would have never thought that green would appeal to me, but I LOVE that color on your truck Taz, and the black accent really sets it off.
I have always liked the solid green of your truck also keith, isnt that a factory color? BTW, that WAS a compliment

Re: Tonneau cover pics
i think it might have also been a compliment to all the trucks with the covers!!
i seen these while looking on ebay there the soft cover type, 1) full tilt, and 1) thats not! both have frames that go on the inside of the beds! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Tilt-83...item5641add9af http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extang-Black...item3cbd69347d

Re: Tonneau cover pics
Chad, I have to disagree, sorry dude, they both look like they rest on the rails. I dont have a problem with them, nice covers but I prefer the hard ones cuz of security. In this area, you have way too many people taking things.

Re: Tonneau cover pics
clyde, your right about they rest on top of the rails! but the frame for the cover bolts to the inside of the rail lip with no drilling, thats what i meant! not that it was a flush mount, they show it with snaps and without! would still slow them down as to just walking by and grabbing stuff out, thats why i would prefer to have a hard cover as will! a sharp blade can cut a soft cover, and if someone wanted to see what you got in the bed they would do anything!

Re: Tonneau cover pics
It is the stock light green but with a little kick, we used metalic silver instead of white and transparent yellow instead of solid yellow when mixing the color, took a lot more paint for the base coat but it has the same color with just a little more punch.............Thanks Clyde Kieth

Re: Tonneau cover pics
I know this thread has to do with hard covers, but I have a question about the soft, snap on type. I have all the mounting rails for my truck for the snap on type, but no cover, has anyone had a cover like this made by an upholsterer? If so, what would you think it should cost to have one made? I'm thinking a black cover with a orange bow tie in the center.

Re: Tonneau cover pics
I checked with Gaylord's and they said $900 for my Short Wide plus $260 shipping, not a bad price but still out of my reach.

Re: Tonneau cover pics
Well it came in Friday afternoon, did not have much time to spend on installing the tonneau but it went pretty well. Here is a picture when we were trial fitting the tonneau, the corners are sticking up because we had not installed the plastic corners at the rear. Here is an initial shot:
this shot shows the only mod we had to make to the kit to get it to work on our trucks due to the interior post...................not too bad the fit is fantastic. Will post more pictures when we finish the install monday......I have some remote release parts on the way...... approximate cost $300.00 with freight Kieth call Doug at 1-800-Craftec for pricing.......Kieth |

Re: Tonneau cover pics
Here are some final pictures:
The Tonneau works great, looks great, and the customer service at Craftec was really good as well. We are now working on a remote latch system that really may be simple..........the gas shocks pull down on the tonneau after it is lowered within 2" of the down position. might just try a simple strap that we operate to pull down on the rear of the tonneau to keep it pulled in place......then just let the pressure off of it and raise....simple inexpensive and easy. will advise as we get to it. Kieth Craftec 1-800-craftec 1800-272-3832 ask for Doug...... |
