Re: 86 squarebody made2drag
as of right now, i can stand on the rear bumper and the axle touches frame.
after the notch is welded and i cut the rest of the bottom of the frame off on each side, i should be touching the top of the notch. if i step notch it, i'm going to make a 3 inch lowering block out of 2x3 square tubing and my axle should be thru the frame all the way. i have some 9000 sleeve airbag brackets to mount on the frame and leaves ... and i still need to mount some shocks. the truck rides pretty much like stock in the front and the rear isnt as bouncy as i thought it would be since i dont have shocks...well, thats probably going to be it for a couple of weeks, i'll post some pics when i get the bed on........ |

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag
In the pic on post #8, where did you get that black "cup" for the lower a arm?
In the pic on post #21, where did that flip bracket for the axle come from? You seem to be moving quick on this one.

i made the flip brackets.... $10 for both axle seats from Tractor Supply and while i was there i picked up a piece of flat bar 1 1/4 or so and almost 1/4 inch thick. when i had everything positioned and my angle finder showing the same angle for the trans and diff...i measured the lengths for each tab....cut them out and welded them to the seats and they fit perfect. when i do a step notch im going to wire brush everything down and por-15 the frame and suspension once i have everything how i want it. i tackled the bags and rear in three 8 hour days. i dont usually have that much time to work on stuff so it was nice |

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag
nice work man and great progress so far.... on the cups your using for the lca's how deep is that cup? it almost seems like even thought the plate of bag fits in there once the truck is laid out and the bag is deflated the bag may rub agaings the edge of the cup all the way around im not sure it may be just the angle that pic shows.... looking good though keep them pics coming....

So far I can only see about 1" extra drop with the 4wd springs, but I still need to remove a couple leafs. But I already had them and i'm sure stock 4wd springs shouldn't be hard to come by cheap or free. Don't know why they wouldn't work with your shackles.
