Re: move steering wheel and column towards dash

i was moving my steering wheel towards the dash and in the middle of the steps, i pulled the steering wheel towards me and my harness got stuck on a metal point and the point was a grounded. i had a small short and small fire with lots of sparks. i unhooked my battery and fixed the wires that were knicked. when i turn the key now, none of my accesories come on like wipers, turn signals, ac controls, nothing. its like the battery is un hooked...and wont do anything in any position when i turn the key....help! all my fuses are good in the fuse box and my headlights still work and interior lights work, just nothing that needs the key to work.....any ideas what i need to fix????

Re: move steering wheel and column towards dash

ok, here's how i did it....please read everything and remember this doesnt turn out to be a factory like change.....don't do it unless you dont mind a little rigging here and there....the bracket under the column doesnt fit well and will need to be modified and i didnt use the four bolts....just the 2 nuts to hold the column against the dash. do this mod at your own risk.....

Re: move steering wheel and column towards dash

I'm play with tha placement when i get back on it this summer..to me it's still close, but it seems better than it was. I may gain more space with a smaller wheel..but i like tha big wheel..I got tha idea also from tha post in tha 67-72 fourms..
