Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
Had mine custom-built by Ron Davis radiators - great service & pricing isn't to bad at all!!! Came with the electric fans & shroud built-in.

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
It's been a little bit, but memory serves it close to $850.00. Not as much as Be Cool, but more than some of the generic aluminum radiators out there. I'm really pleased with it though & it's nice to have it built for your application - i.e. water necks where you need them!

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
I'd say one of the plate type w/e-fan..... vs the standard fin & tube style...and maybe a trans temp gauge. I bought one for mine...just haven't hooked it up yet.

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
Can the factory plastic fan not cool the 5.3 enough in these trucks? I have a 72 burb with a 04 Tahoe motor. Still has the fan attached. Thought I'd just use it as long as it cools.

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
Has anyone use a Norther Aluminum radiator? I'm looking a PN 209626
adverts:: NEW 19 X 31" Universal fit Race Pro Double Pass Aluminum Radiator. This is a GM style (RIGHT CONNECTIONS) with 1 1/2" top filler neck and 1 3/4" bottom filler neck. This is a 2 row radiator with 1" Dual tubes. Tanks are 3" wide. Radiator has no Epoxy and is 100% Tig Welded. "BEST VALUE IN COOLING YOUR RACE CAR" This is a universal type radiator so it has no specific application. The C-Channel style mounting flanges run the length of the core on the top and bottom for radiator and shroud mounting. The flanges are approximately 3/4" tall. This radiator is very popular with Circle tack racers accross the USA. Will outcool 4 row copper radiators. |

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
Anyone who's mounted an aftermarket radiator, how did you do it. There seems to be a 3/4" flange top and bottom, so stock mounts probably won't work. Also, can it be mounted solid to the core support?

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
Stock mounts worked for me. i.e. the larger 4 core mounts.
I guess we'll see how long it holds up. My blazer has been running for 2 years and probably 3500 miles and o.k. so far.

my be cool is bolted to the core support, with rubber isolation strips in between so it doesn't vibrate

Re: aftermarket aluminum rads
no aluminum yet...but I do have a neat dual e-fan setup from Old Air Products made for '67-'72 GM trucks. With my standard 4 core radiator these e-fans keep my motor pretty much pegged at 180*. 2nd fan generally comes on just briefly, a minute or two; if at all. Sure that will change when I add a/c tho.
