Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
It's worth $500.00 to me. When you're figuring parts prices, Total, then add 25%. It's always more than you figure.

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
I good running big block goes for around 500 here, Im not dead set on keeping the 454 either, Id like to put vortec 350 in it, it will run just as good in IMO and Ill see better mileage, still not great I know its still a 5000lb truck

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
If I went that route, I would do a Duramax Allison swap , but I can afford to pick those up. :\

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
well dmax allison is alot more than 1k about 4k and requires alot more wiring. the tbi 350 4l80e from a 91-95 truck pretty easy swap was even offered in a square body.

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
Oh ya I know it will cost a lot that's what I meant about not being able to afford it, and I really wouldnt want to spend just the 1000 on a new powertrain this truck is not gunna get used enough to justify it. Now I may get attached to it and want to drive it around more for other stuff, then I might do that lol But you now stuff gets. Oh and the dmax swap doesnt scare me it would just take time and planning

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
it dont me either just the money is the issue with the dmax. im going to do one as soon as my 04 sells.
you could actually just add a 700r4 for the small block too. real cheap there. i only mentioned the 350 80e combo cause you changing engines y not just find a the whole combo bolt in. |

Re: What do you think? Buy, or keep looking?
I want to see the Dmax swap when you do it. Yeah I have thought about the 700r4 they are cheap here too, I can get one that needs rebuilt for 50 bucks or so and a kit is like 100 or so, more if it needs a sprag or some other hard part. Im not sure I want to put a 700r4 in a 3/4 ton though I want to be able to hook on a 30 ft boat and go if I need without fear of breaking it
