This thread is ......well it's interesting, being new around here I better be careful what I say..... there are way to many veritable's to the answer as responses indicate...

It's possible that it was involved in an accident and the frame was shoved over to one side. Then when it was repaired, the front clip was scooted over the other direction to compensate. You might want to take some measurements between the frame and the fender on each side and compare.

You may check to see if the body has been placed over to the passenger side some. The appears to been scooted over alittle due to the gap between the fender and the bumper as highlighted in the inclosed picture...

You may also check some of the bumper adustment also.. There is 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch side to side adjustment.

4x4's have a wider track in the front than the rear from the factory.

I think I noticed the truck in question has aftermarket wheels, I would still check back spacing. The only time I've ever noticed anything like this was a truck I had, when I checked it out it had one 8" rally wheel with different back spacing. I don't know how many different rally wheels there are but I have seen several. The only other thing than the body parts being moved, could be some kind of aftermarket replacement spindle, but I'm doubting that. It is interesting though.

The wheels are exactly the same I changed the wheels with different set and the same problem is there and mine is two wheel drive

I had a bit of the same problem. I measured everywhere. I had the body shop straighten the left front frame horn and he said that the front end was off by 1/8" but that was not the issue. I found that the left side had way too much camber and the right side had way too little. Most alignment shops will not be too critical as they are production shops. Meaning get it in and get it the vehicle out in record time, unless you buy a whole front end rebuild that is usually not necessary. Fine tuning the aliginment may be helpful for you. I've seen several of these trucks with this camber issue including mine.

well on my red truck the fender is dented in and the bumper is also slightly pushed in because i got stuck in a ditch. the problem was there before it happened. I tried switching tires and the problem is still there. but one thing i did notice was that on my driver side the ball joints were in ****ty shape, but on the passenger side the ball joints were fine. you think if i replace the ball joints on the driver side it may tuck the tire back in where its suppose to be???

guys i know a man all he does are these trucks. he told me that out of factory the front clips could be wrong by 1" and the suspention wrong up to .5. never mind the beds

The travel path for our truck is unique!! The front travel path is 1" than the rear. How that 1" is shown, is different from truck to truck. GM engineered them that way. I assume it was for a more stable front end. Replacing the A-arms with aftermarket tubes or modified stock arms is the only way to remove the extra gap. This difference is why wide front tires rub the fender.

Visually check the length of the left a-arms and compare to the right a-arms.

Tires sticking out crooked, whole trucks leaning to one side or the other, bumpers sticking out too far on one side vs. the other, front tires that stick out farther then the back.....What the hell am I driving?? I'm afraid. What if your truck was built on a Friday after lunch.

On 4wd it is so the rear tires track in virgin material, rather than in the ruts created by the front tires - for better tracking off road.

On 2wd it was simply a result of the packaging required to get all of the suspension characteristics to work out.

Pls let us know what you figured out what the issue was with the wheel and such very curious to find out! im not having problems with mine like that, but my bed is sticks out on the passenger side more and tucked behind the cab on the driver side. of course the thing was hit behind the wheel fender where the tailight is at on the driver side, but idk if the bed being hit as little as the dent is would bend the whole bed.

loosed up the bed bolts (grab the pb blaster) and see if you can center it. you should have a bit of slop to work with. more then likely it will stick out a little on both sides though

LOL what is PB blaster? I new to all this! I dont care if it sits out on both sides of the cab, just as long as the spacing is the same on both sides.

PB blaster is a spray on product that works its way into nuts and bolts to make it easier to break them loose. You should be able to get it at any auto parts or tool store.
