Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Tons of guys in the 99+ world running without much issues in the rear, but the IDEA of bolt on junk for shock extensions and yet another piece of metal not welded in with a flip has always made me uneasy. I think the Western Chassis design flip looks much stronger, and their C-notch is for sure stronger than the DJM design.

This thread has pretty much made up my mind that I will be welding a new pad on the axle before it goes in.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I just installed my Western Chassis Flip kit last night. Talk about quality - I could not have found a better product. This kit is Top Notch. I will be putting in the C notch today. All the parts are a high gauge steel, and fit like a glove. It just seemed like all the engineering was spot on. The plate and bracket look superior to the factory stuff. I don't mean to be a cheerleader, but I was really impressed. Any of you guys looking for a flip kit should take look at this one. That's my .02 cents

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I welded them after the didnt fit. And since I " test fit the kit" I couldnt return it. So i made it fit and got it all nice. But now its playdough. And welding makes things harder

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I used Your photo, but heres the problem with mine as well. They are too short. So when the axle sits inside here the tops dont reach the original perches on the axle. Second they are too wide and way too much slop in my opinion. As far as Im concerned, They are a bad design and junk. The bottom pick is a BellTech flip kit. You can clearly see the difference in design. These are what I have now and fit perfect.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I have the dim on my truck and so far so good. It fit good and the issue you are having with the shock extensions is that when you buy drop shocks the come with sleeves that fit, or well, my toxic shocks fit with no problem.

So then how do aftermarket shocks fit on stock mounts? I think djm should still figure out how to make thier half inch playdough brackets from real steel

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Anything that just bolts to the housing like that is gonna fail if your making power.those kits are just for low powered cruisers.sounds like your serious about performance, lose the show car junk and build yourself a nice welded up housing,no mor problems.oh yeah as for the " don't weld on the frame" stuff about c notch kits that's bs too.weld in the cnotch.thats the problem with the square body frames, everything is bolted together.go look at your front cross member.thats all bolted together.i love my truck I hate there cheesy frames though.if I keep mine I will eventually build a chassis worthy of serious performance use.

Well im getting some spring pads and welding them on and drilling them for setback. But a chassis able to do what these twizzler like frames cant would be great for these trucks

Another pic of djm greatness. A ubolt that wouldnt come loose and galled so i cut it

I dont use impact tools on anything. Dont even own one.

No good bolt should ever gall with torqueing. Any bolt worth a pinch of crap. It went on fine bit got tighter as I turned the wrench to take it off

Were the U-bolts new at the time of install, or did you re-use the existing?

A small dab of anti-seize will prevent that also.
I'm a believer in that stuff!

These are new with the kit. I had anti sieze on all of them since i knew the stuff was going to come off again just to do a re-gear.

So you may not see it on this one since I tried the hot wrench and spray lube and anything else Ibcould get. Till i said screw it this is taking to long and cut the bolt

From the way they look to be made it is entirely possible. They are just stamped thick steel.

Frim what I can tell they plasma cut outs then are stamped when hot to form. And tumbled to debur and finish and have a crapoy powder coating or hammer paint.

Hardly seems like any precision is done here. Just crap thrown together cheaply and sold as a kit. And us suckers buying. Ive done a search on the net and ill fitting pieces seem to be a common issue
