Re: Why do you drive your truck?
I just checked the NADA price on my 2007 GMC 2500HD Classic Dmax/Allison,xcab long bed 4x4 and high retail is around $26,000. It cost right at $41,000 when I bought it.
I checked my '72 C20 and high retail is over $32,000,,,, cost new,,, $3,088. What's wrong with this picture ? 40 year old truck worth more than a 5 year old truck ? 72 vs 07 72 has a cool factor that the 07 never will. 72 has no computer. 72 parts are cheaper. 07 has more wires than 10 or 15 1972 trucks 72 I can do most anything ( repair wise ) that needs done. 72 does everything I want to do and if I want to sell it,, it will sell. 07 has been for sale for over a year and a half ,,,,,,,,,, well below book. |

Re: Why do you drive your truck?
I drive it because it reminds me of home. It's the only piece of farm I have in this crazy ass city.
And I don't have to worry about being backed into. Diamond plate bumpers are hard to dent with an econo-box.

Re: Why do you drive your truck?
I drive mine because its cool. I like the way it shakes and roars when you press the loud pedal. Gas mileage in mine is CRAP but I dont care. I have a new Chrysler 300c that sits in the garage and NEVER gets driven hardly ever. I was almost thinking I should just take the insurance off it and leave it parked. I also have a 1978 c10 but I like my 1970 GMC better because its loud and nasty sounding!

Re: Why do you drive your truck?
My grandson asked me a while back why I always watch "that show." "That show," was Mash 4077. I replied "it takes me back to a special time and makes me feel like everything is going to be ok." He's far too young to understand, though.
I could drive a new truck if I wanted, but I honestly feel more comfortable in my '72. It does take me back to a special time in life. There's nothing like getting up early in the morning, cranking the window down and the tunes up, driving down the road to go get donuts or breakfast burritos. Even my chihuahua, who rides with me just about everywhere, would tell you "there's nothing like hanging your head out of the window of an old Chevy truck." It just feels right.

Re: Why do you drive your truck?
There are a number of reasons I drive my truck:
1) It makes me look good (that's a hard thing to do) 2) It's fun (this is the biggest reason) |

Re: Why do you drive your truck?
It's because I "DRIVE" it.A new car or truck is like watching TV.It'll get you somewhere but you're just along for the ride.An old truck is more interactive, like your computer, you become a part of the whole.

![]() ![]() Earlier this summer I was at a light on a 4 laner, and was a couple of cars behind and to the right of a "new" Moostang GT. He was the first car in the left lane at the light. Light goes green and as traffic picked up speed, I swung in behind the Ferd. He saw me swing in, and gunned it a bit. I kept pace with him... we passed a few cars on our right and he nailed it. I slipped back to the right lane and started to pull around him. Gotta admit, that pony was fast... I stayed on his right front fender and couldn't get around him. But the look of sheer shock and amazement on his face that a 4,000 pound green hulk was pacing his "muscle car". I was all smiles... still makes me smile to this day. Gary
