Re: 1960-1962 Lower control arms

How thick was that steel you welded in? Also, what was the small notches you put in there for?

What is your plan for the upper bag mount area? My plan, when I get to it, was to remove most of the metal in the center of that area and weld in a standard upper bag plate you can buy. It already has the mounting holes in it.

Great job so far!! I will use this for my model when the time comes.

Im also interested in what bags you are planning to use up front.

thanks bro..... the thickness of the metal is 3/16 of an inch is just some diamond plate i had left over from other builds the little notches on the sides are for the steering and the upper mount clearance the plan is to make the arm touch the upper mount when is laid out as far as the upper im gonna remove a section of the upper mounts and make it higher i thought about removing it all and moving it up but im gonna try this first i think i can get it to lay pretty low like this and he'll be happy with it ill post pics on how i do the upper..... oh and the bags im not sure yet the one you see there is a 2500 bag and i could probably squeeze a 2600 but it would be tight and it may rub i would have to maybe trim the upper sides of the lower control arm....

On trucks like these, do you use single chamber bags or two chamber bags?

Re: 1960-1962 Lower control arms

you mean single or double convoluted bags right? you want to use double since they get you more lift....

here is a pic of 2 2500 lb bags and 2 2600 lb bags that will give you an idea on the size difference...

Re: 1960-1962 Lower control arms

That is a big difference.. Will the 2600's fit inside the LCA's without rubbing?

im sure you can 2600 in there but im thinking you will have trim the upper part of the sides of the arm and reenforce the sides so the bag dont rub something like this
