that truck wld be considered a gem here in canada very hard to find any with no rust especally on the lower fender and fender wells on rear fenders rust holes where fender braces are

Does your engine have the oil filter setup? I have a spare 1 quart canister type I switched from - over to the spin on adaptor.

Not sure if you were addressing me jbgroby?, but I had to go take a look. This truck has the spin on filter, it has a different filter head than my '63 305E with the canister. I haven't had much of a chance to look this truck over completely, but its appears to be a late build from the Freemont plant. the seat looks like its never been out so I peaked under it and the build sheet is their and looks to be in good shape. Problem is I can't get around to pulling the seat until late this week. I will be on pins and needles to get a good look at the paper.

I've asked myself the "Why?!" question many times when browsing the parts section on this forum and seeing (really) decent trucks being parted out...

But then again, I've saved several of those vehicles that people say are "Un-restorable"... Why? Pretty much because someone said I couldn't do it...

As for your truck- that truck is WAY to nice to part out! Get that ol' girl running, do the basics, and just drive it the way it is!

Well I've decided to save the Salmon truck, in fact I think there is a problem. I like these so well I couldn't resist buying a crusty cramper a neighbor wheeled out to the side of the road a few day ago. The GMC and the Chevy are set up about the same, the salmon must have been ordered like a special camper. Before a bath picture below. I hate white spokes, the original 16" wheels were in the bed.

Glad you're keeping the salmon truck, & that's another good looking truck you found! It has a nice patina too. I agree about the wheels. Nice job keeping two more on the road.

Personally I say save them, I am saving one that is in way worse shape and I couldn't be happier about the project. One of the coolest things about these trucks is the fact that they aren't the most popular body styles so there isn't as many of them out there. But then that is what makes them so cool. Like I said save them pick the one you want to keep and flip the other.

I would say save that piece of history it looks like the sheet metal and side chrome are straight as a pin. I would like to see the inside and how it faired those hubcaps are worth a few $$ if they are actual GMC caps. Keep that baby around and when the money tree blossoms bless that baby..Vernski

Nice truck pyshco75. I'm selfish and going to keep em both. I'm going to make the GMC a long term factory restoration project. The Chevy is going to be my new daily driver, it just needs a little work. This truck is not highly optioned for a Custom Camper, but not molested by the previous owner. The original hubcaps were in a box on the floor, it was a nice surprise. Both of these trucks spent their whole lives within a few miles of me. Couple more pictures.

They do clean up nice. I'm going to give the CLR bath a try and see how it works on the rusty areas.

The circle offset mirror head may be an original part on a differnt mount attached to the west coast mirror arms. I have seen some aftermarket offset mirror heads too, as well as some military applications.

Its a great looking truck, and I like the way it sits as is.
