Thanks slow-1. Yea I don't feel great about ending the auction on the bidders but it is a right that ebay gives the owner.

I'm 28 years old, and having been going to car shows and cruises with my Dad religiously since I could walk. Yet I have never driven or owned a classic vehicle. Neither has my Dad, he's too sensible to sink money into anything but a daily driver. But I want this experience for my 5 year old son and I to enjoy. So this is many years worth of build up. I'll finally have something to show and cruise myself, and be more than a spectator.

nice truck, forget what everyone says about it being a longbed and the so called value not being as good. I have both and prefer the longbed over that rough riding shortbed anyday.

Even if you offer $6000 plus your getting a heck of a deal. The truck has all the proper power equipment to have a super nice driver.

I wouldn't worry about the ebay bidder, he's gambling anyway. Buy it for yourself and your son and enjoy

Great input, thank you. It will be more enjoyed as a cruiser and not a hot rodder so I'm happy about the long beds riding better. I haven't had air conditioning in my daily driver for 5 years, so it'd be cool (pun intended) to get this Chevy's factory AC working again. It'd be like a treat to drive it on a hot day lol.

Thanks Ol Blue. Every time my son sees a classic car he yells out "look Dad! A cruising car!" And he has already claimed the role of "candy thrower" at the cruises lol. Goofy kid, he is.

I agree with others. Although not a short bed that is one sweet looking truck. I think you would get alot of attention while driving that truck.

Oh I'll be very interested. Thanks for the offer tlcrz1972. Everything I do on this truck will literally be for the first time. All my vehicles have been fuel injected and from 1998 or later. I'm excited to learn.

Looks like an awesome deal man. Definitely a solid looking truck. Also cool that you're wanting something to participate in shows with, I'm kind of in the same boat with my '68.

Enjoy it while you can. My kids are grown and they're the ones who think I'm goofy now!

Thanks ibanezer. My summer's are busy, but going to cruises/shows is the highlight of it. That and air shows. I'm a big aviation geek too.

Wasn't saying they have any more claim to it than you do...just that they ain't gonna get it.

Wait til you follow your little boy to the cruise in, him driving his cool ride and you in your truck, happens in the blink of an eye.

I'm sure! I don't want to waste these years that the kid actually wants to hang out with me and thinks I'm the coolest thing since Spider-Man. Won't last forever lol.

Re: Going to look at this Ochre beauty tomorrow. Thoughts?

It's a sad night in Springfield. The owner and I couldn't make a deal. Apparently the response he's received from the EBay ad has been surprising. The auction is now up to $5100 with almost 5 days left. One guy called him from New Zealand and wants to come get the truck and have it shipped back to New Zealand and flip it for profit. The truck was in close to the shape it appears in the pics. The roof and drop rails had been paint brushed white (yikes). Drove straight, smooth, etc. I made a fair offer and he said that my offer would have bought the truck 9 times out of 10, but due to the response on the auction, he's going to wait it out and see if the winning bidder comes through. He'll call me first if not.
Pretty bummed. I think if the auction hasn't gone up $1,200 before I got there, I'd be singing a different tune.

Thanks all for your input once again. I really appreciate it.

Dang...you still have a chance, you can be high bidder on ebay.

If not, there a thousands of these trucks for sale daily in this country.

Maybe you should, Um, sign up for an eBay account, bid 40k now so you know you'll win, and see what happens

When the high bidder flakes at the end of the auction your offer should go down accordingly.

Duly noted, thank you.

It sure was a joy to drive the truck. That was my first time actually driving a classic. It steered just as smoothly as my modern day SUV. The brakes were a bit lacking as expected, and the 350 was a bit anemic, also as expected, but what a cool ride. I even threw my right arm on top of the bench seat and enjoyed the drive

There's a 1972 C20 Cheyenne here locally that has my eye, also. It has a 454, 700r4. It belongs to an older guy that had it restored a few years ago. It's a hair more expensive than this one. I probably won't start a thread on that one, I feel confident enough to check it out first. The thing that stopped me about the C20 before was figuring out how to lower it and finding factory wheels for it. It currently has chrome 20's on it. At stock ride height the 20's look a bit odd.

That would be a good choice and wise decision if you really want this second one, start a thread on it after the cash & title have been exchanged. Good luck on the hunt, Mel

That would indeed be the wiser decision. The dilemma I face is, I have nobody to ask for advice other than the fine members of this board . And being such a raging newbie at this whole thing I lack the confidence to make a wise purchase. I'm researching every day to gain knowledge, though.
